  1. I created a ticket for this issue and uploaded a file that might help too. Thanks in advanced !
  2. Thanks for sharing This is one of the most popular issue that my students keep facing (saving /merging take unreasonable long time) and your plugin is my go-to for solving this as it solve it in most cases. I found another issue that could make particularly autosave take very long time that when your assets paths aren't Relative.. changing that from assets tracking solve this issue but of course that might not be a good thing to do in some cases.. If you would like to i can send you one of these files to investigate more the issue.
  3. I think this will help you https://forum.itoosoft.com/railclone-pro-(*)/pattern/msg20451/#msg20451 with color and UV randomization you can hide the tiling repetition . If you have access to Substance Designer you can get good results too with displacement map you can get almost identical result to modeling
  4. You can also try particleflow with vrayinstacer to get light render . It is quite underrated way to scatter but it's very powerful
  5. LOOOL ..And that dispersion effect on the glass Those where the days right =D? it must be hard then to find solutionto your problems or finding other artists like now . Personally I've started 3D on 2005 and in my country internet wasn't that good so max help document where my friend Back to the image , what's surprised me is that I remember when this article has been published ,but didn't expect that to be 10 years ago!
  6. Try to add just a bit of blur inside displacement mod to smooth things would help I guess
  7. The same here too working on large scale project then layers are crucial .. I've been using max for 12 years and It was hard to convert to the new layer system, but after disabling a few auto options (auto expand layer of selection e.g. ), filtering, create shortcut for the buried commands, I think I'm used to it now and don't have any issue.
  8. I think you are looking for this : https://evermotion.org/tutorials/show/7875/anisotropic-shader-tutorial-using-vray-1-5-final-sp-1 Looking at the date(2008) I feel like I'm getting really old!!
  9. The quickest way If you are using the latest version is to use the one click solution from the toolbar to create matte ground.
  10. Okay, it's a bit more complicated than what I've ecpected =D I would try to remove the tex from there and plug it in VrayBumpMtl, in that way you will have better control over your bump maps imo. I think something went wrong in the mixing there, maybe the tex is too deep now and swaping the setup could help?.. Anyway I see it as a bug and worth sending a report to chaosgroup to solve it :-))
  11. it works as expected here using VRay 3.6 ... are you still using the old edge texture map? starting from Vray 3.4 iirc they implemented the round corner for better control: https://docs.chaosgroup.com/display/VRAY3MAX/Edge+Map+%7C+VRayEdgesTex Could you post as screenshot for the material setup
  12. I have seen this many times too . When it happen I press Alt +w to minimize the viewport and F10 to open the render setup and press render from its window ..it sort this out most of the time ..but don't ask me why =D
  13. I suspected that depth value would be the problem as for most of glass material problems are =D I'm glad you resolved it !
  14. I've tried it here and it is working as expected . I'm using Max 2016 and VRay 3.6 a screenshot for the material setup could help to identify the problem or maybe it is just a bug in older versions .
