  1. The bricks look too stretched and a displacement map would really improve this scene in my opinion.
  2. I really appreciate the feedback, George. I ended up playing around with some of the render settings and I think it looks a lot better. Turned clamp output and subpixel mapping on. I was under the assumption that clamp output was one of those things you really shouldn't use but my scene looks a lot better in my opinion. I guess the window mullion is a bit distracting but I never really focused on it and actually really liked it. I moved it a bit, not sure if it's still distracting at all as I personally don't find it distracting. This forum is great as I'm a pretty bad judge of my own work. Not sure if the exterior isn't blown out enough, looks better thanks to clamp output however not as blown out.
  3. Studio/Institution: SNHU Genre: Residential Interior Software: 3ds Max, Vray Description: I'm almost done, just looking for some critiquing. Don't hold back. EDIT: I'm redoing the carpet, something messed up when importing it.
  4. I used reinhard and that seemed to fix most of it, try that. Also, I'm using vray lancoz filter. I'll upload final pic soon for critique. Also, if that's just weird noise, I got rid of my noise by turning my brute force down from 50 to 10 and using light cache at 2500. That gives me about the best times with very good results.
  5. I fixed the jar problem, but the window is still messed up. Nothing seemed to help it, just make it look different.
  6. My scene has what looks like noise but my noise threshold is at 0... This issue is only with high light areas such as the window. I'm using brute force and light cache for GI. I have tried subpixel mapping which did not work. My settings are shown below. Anyone know what this is or can offer help? Now in the past, I have tried changing my filter to something other than "area" and I don't believed that helped at all. EDIT: I turned my ?global DMC adaptive amount up to 1.0 from .85. That seemed to help a bit, just kinda blurring it really, however improving non e the less.
  7. I used the hdri dome light method and I'm not sure of the quality of my hdri map. I've done some reading and it looks like my hdri map might be fine. I also upped the DMC subdivs and actually scaled back the noise threshold even though still at .002. Looks from a render so far now, things lok pretty good. Thanks guys, and thanks for the ref vid.
  8. Thanks, I'm assuming you meant 30 subdivs lol? Here's what it looks like now, changed a few GI settings around a bit. Looks pretty good except for the window, perhaps changing the image sampler would help? I usually use Mitchell-Netravali but I believe that gave me some strong black lines surrounding everything near the window. I'm still learning quite a bit, what image sampler would you recommend for such a scene? EDIT: Catmull-Rom is giving me strong black lines as well, ya I know nothing about filters.
  9. Hi, After adding my hdri map, my scene has a lot more noise (granted there was a bit noise before, but it was acceptable). Now this isn't a final render and I know it is very dark, but I'm hoping to nip this in the but now. Attached below is my scene with render settings, hopefully someone knows why my scene is so noisy. My noise threshold is only .002, so I'm not sure what's causing it. Originally, before adding my hdri map, a threshold of .006 was fine. Lowering the threshold to .002 has helped a bit, but not much. Any help would be greatly appreciated. EDIT: Not sure why my username is "wegweg sgwerg", lol wut? EDIT 2: After changing my Light Cache subdivs from 1000 to 1300 and fiddled with my Vray camera, I believe there is slightly less noise, however I am not satisfied. There is still a lot of noise on the coffee table, as well as the window.
