  1. Any idea how I could make proxies of many objects in a simple way? I tried to Collapse them into a single mesh but I lost the icons, etc.. so didnt work that way, dont know how I could do that... thanks
  2. Hi, I am trying to make proxies from some groups. I remember using a script called "mr proxy bake" but I tried it now with max 2014 and I get a message : "runtime error: controller superclasses not the same". The message appears after the script convert the 1st proxy and stops. Any other alternative? or idea how I could do this as easy as it used to be with mr proxy bake? thanks

For the shadows, I checked in the alpha channel, there is nothing in there, I start to think it could be because I have this PhysX popup window at the beginning which always say that it is a old version and things might not work properly but I never worried for that till now cause I never got weird behavior till now.
  4. Hi, I have some difficulties with some render elements.. I can't see my mr A&D Raw Ambient Occlusion neither the shadow pass: http://imgur.com/tpzcSo7 I render with mental ray, but when I use the Scanline, the A.Occlusion appears but the shadow still not. Everything is checked in the render element shadow: Elements active, Display Element,etc.. As u can see on the photo the display alpha channel is on, so normally I see it but here it doesnt show, I really dont get .. Any idea?
  5. similar problem here, my volume fog (in mental ray but) renders also grey at the distance, even though its color is set white... cant figure out why..

I didnt find a solution but I somehow found a trick to get around: if sb has the same pb, u can: 1) create a plane on top of the surface where u want to have as reference for your gizmo (use autogrid) 2) convert that new created plane to a EditPoly 3) attach the original mesh to that plane and now the gizmo is ok not an elegant solution though, if anybody has st better, pls Reply thx

Hi there, I have a problem, my pivot is off center: http://imgur.com/aHd5QWU I tried in the hierarchy to AffectPivotOnly->CenterToObject and also to move it manually to the center: the pivot moves but the Gizmo stay there, normally they move together when I do that, dont know why.. Any idea how to fix that? thanks

  9. it has been replaced, by MassFx I think, not sure.. I also dont think u can do good looking animations with Reactor, it becomes quick overwhelmed and dont use the memory of the pc rightly

    Reactor slow

    Hello, I have prepared a test model with a box that fractured in 200 pieces in max (with the help of fracture voronoi) as a small scale test before to make a bigger scene but it was almost impossible to compute so slow it became after adding a Rigid Body to the 200 pieces. It was weird because when I checked the memory, max was not using much of my RAM or processor, RAM was at 40% and processor at 15% (I have a new PC). I will try to use now Rayfire but I am quite disappointed by Reactor, I hear many good things about it, that it was even better than MassFX but it looks I can use it only for mini scenes with it. Could anybody render interesting stuff with Reactor? greets
  11. Hi Scott, yep, it makes sense to me, I thought about it actually but I am not so fit with photoshop. in max, I wonder if matte shadow material would be better than camera map in that case
  12. in your opinion, what would create the least problems to insert a ship model on an ocean or into ice (breaking) situation? I need a reflection ground and a bump map. I tried using a camera map modifier at the moment but didnt find it so easy to use (I overcame problems with viewport, with darkness, etc..that are now solved). How would you spontaneously do that? I know some people prefer also compositing afterwards in photoshop.. thanks for your comments
  13. in gimp or illustrator, I export a bitmap with a RGB of 186-46-33 Then, in max I create another material with the same RGB values, but in the viewport, they look quiet different. Any idea what could be the reason? thanks
  14. Yep, I am expecting few difficulties, the presets are very interesting, there is a lot of stuff! as I am more confortable with max, I will start from there, thanks for your input
