  1. Totally true. That's why we at least have someone here speaks Chinese and knows the way they work and think. In my opinion, if they know how to communicate well and know the way we think, they can enter the western market/industry directly, at least, try to. But they don't, or if they try to learn first, it costs them more (time, money, resource...) That's why they need me and my clients need me. My clients got what they want, less expensive and fast, people in China got more work, and I got money. All are happy.
  2. It is good. The most important thing is, like I said, we know what kind of images they are good at. For example, I don't think my team in China is really good at interiors, they can't make some fur effects (for example)every well, you can immediately tell that's a Chinese interior design. However, they are really good at, for example high-rise, master plan or landscape and most night/dusk view. And, my people can produce this image in 1.5 days. (Think about they are working during the night of U.S) I respect all talented renderers as real artists. But some people do need artist but some people just need someone who can visualize good or fast or cheap or whatever. My clients are all developers, this kind of images are good enough for them to talk to the land owners or banks. Why not? But again I am not making a suggestion, everyone has his own business and consideration, nobody is wrong.
  3. Sorry to post twice, I thought the first one didn't go through.
  4. Great to read all your post and it is an interesting discussion. But this is the topic we already discussed and I see the two parties are still the same people. I will not suggest anyone "should or should not" outsource, it is your own business, you decide that. But I myself did try outsource and this is what we got on an average quality. I have to say if you want to outsource, it really depends on if you have found a good supplier. Many people in US charging high but also produce poorly. This is a situation in every industry and in every country. It is not because you "outsource or not outsource" cause a disaster, it is because you did not find a good one. Anyway, I am not saying anything as a suggestion, up to you. But if you want to work with us in this way, be my guest.
  5. Actually we are not just like what George described as they do the rendering and we do the post. We share resource. The team work is like we provide the instruction for lighting/materials/ anything, what they can provide is the other half day work when we are sleeping. Man is not a machine, but two men can works as a machine. That's the resource sharing. Also, to be honest, modeling is all the same all over the world, there is no difference between a "Chinese model" and a "U.S model". We save budget in this way also for our clients. And we are totally team relationship with designers in China, we never pretend to be an architecture firm. They are more like part-time freelancers, the only difference is it is oversea and the difference between Dollars and Yuan. So I will not call it "delegate". Also our portfolio shown to our clients includes all the teamwork(work with companies in China) samples. It's just that we don't tell our clients we have a team in China. But I guess it is not necessary to mention, nobody cares that. So I will not call it "cheat". Think about architecture firms, Rem Koolhaas reviews all the projects out of OMA, it doesn't necessarily mean that he draws every line. I will not personalize a firm although most of the visualization studio is actually in small size. The success of us more depends on the operation and management of a firm.
  6. Well, if to be a pure artist or designer, I will not sell any image without my 100% work. But for business, we are selling service through a built platform. The designers in China get a better pay than they do their work for Chinese firms. My clients get the image they like. Why not? You may ask what did I do? I get paid because I succeed in branding, management and resource. That's business. And we would like to build this platform even larger. Sharing resource is the most efficient way. We don't watch cat videos, actually we are searching for cats. And anyway, it is better than that my clients pay more for a bad image.
  7. We are arch visualization firm in U.S. I sent some work out to China when we are really busy. The quality is good, not excellent though. But the price is really half of the average here. They do it very fast. But you have to make several back and forth with them cuz they can not fix a problem within one turnaround. These guys are crazy, they work 24 hours. But as my own experience, it is a smart way to outsource some work when you are really busy, we do that all the time. Because sometimes the clients don't really push for a "nice" rendering, for some design firms, they just basically wanna their design has a correct expression in the image you made. And fast.
  8. Thanks Juraj, I think most of your points are quite brilliant. I agree it is no longer worth to stay in these websites. But still, looking for new clients and business is always needed. We are a commercial visualization studio. Pricing really affects a lot.
  9. Hi everybody, I am new here. But I have been viewing your any discussion for long. Recently I notice something depressing. We are a startup visualization studio. We have some clients in the beginning, who are architecture firms. They have clear need for how their image should look like. And pay good. We also joined some freelancer website, to openly bid for any project, with people all over the world. (I am sure you guys know what kind of websites I am talking about). I don't really wanna rely my business on that part, just for more opportunities. Actually sometimes you would find some good clients there, long-term relationship, more projects than normal architecture firms. However, the problem I recently noticed is, some people or studios in these websites, they have ridiculous quote. For example the same job, we have to at least quote for $800, they give the number as $75. And I have to admit that their work is not as poor as $75, they do work not bad! Of course you will think they are not competitive at all and you have your own stable clients, it will not hurt you. But actually it will, it will destroy the whole industry. This is a global economy age, I just think there should be some organization like AIA in arhitecture to protect the visualization artists.
