  1. Cheers guys. I am surprised. I thought I would have a bunch saying xfrog or similar. Some of those links look pretty good though. Mi must admit, with the ever motion ones it's about the materials. Opacity etc.. But they take an age to render. However, they do look better. So what are you guys using.? The examples that you have posted. ..?
  2. Draw it all in revit, Fbx it, and then file link the Fbx into max. Make a change to the revit file, re Fbx it and then reload in max using the linked files dialogue. Use this method all the time. You can then add all you little extra bits in max, but revit is driving the main design forward. Fbx file link allows you to the update when needed. This process takes minutes, and I find it's pretty clean. No real problems as yet. Although I still use max 2012, I know that newer versions you can bring the revit file straight into max. Can't comment on that method yet, as I haven't used it.
  3. I'm looking to upgrade from the old evermotion 3d models, to a more organic Proffessional looking set of foliage. Needs to be compatible with max 2012 and vray 1.5 ( I know, I should upgrade..) need my trees to start looking a little more realistic and varied. If there is a relevant thread I have missed on this, my apologies. Just point me to it if you can. If not, would really appreciate some feedback on what people are finding gives the best results against ease of use / cost. Thanks in advance..
  4. Ok, I found out that you can silouhette the rpc's within max and render them. Tried all the ways archvision suggest and none of them work properly. They have suggested rendering out in scanline and then comping. Problem is, I have never comped anything in an animation in my life. The description above is a big help, but I'm not even sure what to do with the original render, without the rpc's.. Do I render out to tiff, the standard animation without rpc's, and then carry out the process in the above posts just for the rpc's..? I assume then I can some how line up the frames, like for like in a new channel within ae, and then apply some sort of mask to combine.? I haven't use ae before either so am really on a hiding. I was hoping I could use premiere as at least I know how to use that. Appreciate this is a sort of confused question, but 4 weeks ago, I found out I could use the rpc's within max, and now they don't seem to work properly. Thanks
  5. Cheers Guys.. I will put that to work this afternoon, but I reckon dome off, and then new background either by environment or sphere... Will let you know how I get on, but im sure you know it will work ;-) Cheers
  6. Hey guys, I thought I should be able to find the answer pretty quickly but I'm struggling. I have an animation I am setting up and Im using an HDRI as part of the lighting and all of the background. All ok, until I lift the camera up above the horizon and I see the bottom edge of the HDRI and a load of the base of the HDRI, ie houses, and the ground joining the sky. I really want to keep this simple, so I want to use the HDRI as part of the lighting and then swap either a new simple gradient in, or the Vray sky. It needs to work in an animation basically. Can anyone point me in the right direction, as I seem to have hit a bit of a blank. Many thanks
  7. First of all, many thanks for those links.. They are book marked and ready to go. I need to get in to AE really as I have never really used it. Secondly, and this goes to Ernest.. Yes, what a very good idea...!. On closer inspection of the Master Suite, I realised that Premiere Pro is actually part of this package. I have got so bent out of shape thinking about AE, that I completely glossed over Premiere... OK.. now to have a look at Premiere Pro and try to remember how it worked about 15 versions ago..! Cheers
  8. Very quick question, I am going to be putting together an animation in Adobe After Effects.. problem is I have only ever used Premiere and that was a while ago. Every time I type in what I think is a decent search description into Google, for an animation tutorial, its not quite what I'm after. So.. can anyone point me in the direction of a decent tutorial of how to put together an animation in AE, using multiple still frame TIFF's. Many thanks..
  9. Cheers Erick, Thats a great looking tutorial..! I will give this a go. I am currently trying to gather all my old RPC content and licenses / dashboard etc as I haven't used these for ages. Good thing is, the guys over at Archvision are some of the best support I have ever seen, so hopefully I will be up and running in a few days. To add into the mix as well, I have access to after effects (which I have never used), but the last animation sequence I put together was in Adobe Premiere.... Luckily I have about 5 weeks to get this all done.. Cheers
  10. Interesting.. I do have some RPC moving people in my collection, but have never tried this process before. You wouldn't have a link to a tutorial or something similar would you..? If I can make use of what I have, it would make sense. Cheers
  11. I am going to be putting together an animation similar to the one on this website: http://www.sunesisbuild.co.uk/products/schools/designs/video.php?id=1&type=Primary&subtype1=1%20Form%20Entry If you look at the video, these are the ones I'm after. I've not seen them before, so am unsure where they come from. Has anyone seen anything like these, or happens to know where they are from..? Cheers in advance..
  12. I have 64 bit Max. Is it worth trying the power preview script.? I dont wnt to make it worse.. ;-)
  13. Have I checked the units..? No I havent.. I will check it out and see what they are set at. I generally work from file linked AutoCAD files, so tend to use "mm".. The model isnt tiny, but its not large either, say 60 metres long, maybe 40 wide. What should the units be set to then with small models..?
  14. Switch back a couple of versions..? Did that make everything display as you would expect..? Im a bit miffed by the new interface as well.. I know that sounds very "anti progress" but I use so many bits of software, I dont have time to re-teach myself how the new slate board works. (Im not anti progress, honest) Maybe I need to switch back, as I used to use 2009, and had it all setup as I liked.. It now seems that each new session is a bit of a chore..! I would prefer to stay with 2012 if I could, bu the display problem is so poor, Im not sure I can..
  15. I know this has been talked about all over the net, but I cant find any real resolution. I have put up with this for months now and have decided that I can no longer ignore it. Attached is an image showing how my screen looks in Max Design 2012, with Vray 1.5 SP6. Unless I zoom right in to the image, its constantly blotchy and glitchy and some objects dont even show up until you select them. I have an Nvidia card, a GeForce GTX 550 Ti with 1Gb of its own memory. My machine is an i7 with 16Gb RAM, so things should tick along nicely. However, no matter what I do, I cannot really get Max to work any better than the attached image. Its driving me nuts... I have tried switching to the Direct3D driver and the OpenGL, and they perform even worse, slow and unresponsive. Does anyone have any clues as to the best way to get this working properly..?
