1. started working on sidewalks. Road surface is done with Vizpark walls + tiles
2. Lowering contrast with a zdepth mask might work. Using corona so there is no environmental fog.
3. Anyone know where i could find a half decent 60's model car for free? Also, thinking about using a simple zdepth fog trick to recreate those hazed background buildings. It doesn't seem to be a very complex fog with any volumetric light so should be okay. Thoughts?
4. Only arroway one is the very base floor walls of the tower. The map on all exposed floor slabs is a map made in PS from cgtextures. I Will create a few variations of it to help with the tiling soon.
5. Slowly getting some of the scene done with the main building file referenced in. Working from google street view proving quite difficult. Buildings to the left at the wrong scale.
6. Trying to add in some brick weathering. Using coronaAO map inverted with noise map as the radius. (same as VrayDirt). accidentally added 4 too many floors in that last image.
7. Lots of repetition and some mapping to fix but from a distance should be starting to look acceptable.
8. Starting to texture the building. Some edges still a bit sharp, though. Now to model up a bunch of curtains.
9. Starting to mass out some of the environment. Cant seem to get the right focal length or FOV at the moment. Will worry about that later.
10. Whole scene besides main building will be done in max. Modelling the building made sense in Sketchup. Everything at right angles and the same. Much more efficient with Sketchup snaps etc (for me anyhow).
11. getting there. Almost done in sketchup. Materials done for grouping and easy selection in Max :
12. model them up and they'll be front and center!
13. Quick maxwell fire grab from within sketchup
14. Studio/Institution: none Client: personal Genre: Residential Exterior Software: SketchUp, 3DS Max, Corona A6 Website: http://thevisualworkshop.com Description: Just starting a project to recreate this image as closely as possible (maybe minus some of the film grain) of Colin Lucas's Canada Estate in Rotherhithe, London. Awesome high rise residential building from the 60's that are repeated around South London. No sections or elevations online so working by eye from photo references. Starting the modelling of it in SketchUP using components for the two different kind of floors. This way i can progressively add detail and the whole building will be generated with the 20 or so instanced floors. Will take it into max to refine and add environment once enough detail is added in SketchUp. Some reference photos and WIP in sketchup:
15. So pretty much you can't achieve this without a displacement map which is actually black around the edges so as to not displace on the edges at all. The cube was an example of my problem but i actually have this problem on a more complex shape where all the edges have to be not displaced, going to be a mission trying to uvw map it all to have black edges where i need (not a cube). Even then it's still not going to be 100% welded is it? Wont doing it that way leave it prone to light leaks etc as opposed to using the 'keep continuity' button when it decides to work? Thanks for your advice though, Ismael.
