  1. saving manually or automatically produce the same result:Max freezes. Haven't tried png either, but the jpg option worked and made it just in time to the printers. The thing is i was under the impression that TIFFs would handle bigger images better than a jpg, (which i think has a width limit of 30,000 pixels per image). Yes dual 8core xeon HPz820, with 64gb Ram, aka, the Beast. HyperThreading windows gives 32 cores maxing at 100% per render.
  2. Thanks Javier, I have tried rendering to backburner with the same problem. It only hangs when trying to save the file after render is complete. I haven't tried the render to strips option though. What i did was test save a similar size render to jpg and it worked fine, so currently re-rendering the scene hoping it will save out to Jpg. will keep you posted. As for render, it takes just under an hour on "the beast" =) here is a snapshot for your info check out the task manager!
  3. In a bit of a tight spot. I'm trying to save a huge (23622x8858 pixels) render, and max seems to crash not when i render, but after the render is complete and i try to save the file! I have been trying to save as TIF unsuccessfully where max just goes in to that milky state (windows 8) with the rotating wheel rotating indefinitely. Im in a bit of a tight spot time wise, so repeating this render over and over again is becomning very time consuming. I need to save it and send t the printers ASAP! saving on local drive. Any Ideas?
  4. wow, EXACTLY what i was looking for! Cheers Corey =)
  5. I'm working on a large landscaped scene and have to place a lot of MR proxies manually following the landscape design. At the moment, I'm shift Cloning the proxies one my one and its taking ages since ive got thousands of trees to place. Is there a way (or plugin) that could make my life easier by picking an instance and then just clicking away wherever i want it placed? And if not, is there a way that i can just shift clone without picking "instance" from the cloning option after each clone is made? I am aware of Scatter and tee Spacing tools, and have used them extensively in this project, So please for the purposes of the answer assume that i HAVE to place these instances by manually clicking where i want them. Thanks in advance.
  6. Exactly. Master Machine should be like the poker dealer, Dealing cards through backburner, not 3ds max. No need to open max on it, and should take care of your rendering slaves just fine.
  7. After much deliberation and trial-and-error, I've found nVidia's 311.35 Qudro/Tesla driver to be the most stable. 3 days crash free optimum performance so far. Still looking for more ways on maximizing performance and utilizing both cards together. Thanks for your input guys...
  8. My new HP Z820 workstation has proven quite problematic when it comes to it's nVidia video drivers. The video driver constantly restarts whatever applications are open, and gives a "video driver has stopped working and has restarted successfully" message. I have downloaded and tried several driver versions, namely: 276.28, 305.29, 311.15 and all give the same crashing performance. I am now currently on ver 311.35 released a couple of days ago from nVidea and though more stable than the previous versions, has crashed again once this morning (followed by a blue screen!); So was wondering if anyone else has the same setup rigged and if they're facing the same problem? Also, looking into the subject I stumbled upon nVidea's Maximus configuration for the Tesla-Quadro setup, I have downloaded the config setup file and have it setup, but would like more insight on the configuration if anyone has more in-depth info please. EDIT: Using windows 7 64-bit Cheers. Amer
  9. People who outsource to another geographical location strike me as looking for one of two: The best, or the Cheapest. So if you're focusing your business model on getting jobs from abroad, then my advice to you is to strive to be one or the other. =)
  10. Thank you George, I agree with your comment about the 3D people. Will look into replacing them. Thanks again =)
  11. Thank you Alexander for your kind words and feedback. I see what you mean, and am looking into clarifying the navigation process more. Basically the thumbnails are projects, and when you click on them an automated slideshow of images from the project are displayed. I should add bullets representing the new thumbnails and allow users the option of manual navigation as well. Thanks again, much appreciated =)
