  1. Hi, Im trying to setup a custom shot from which the camera view is limited to my desired preference. I somehow managed to limit the vertical shot in render setup, however I cant make it work horizontally. In the picture Ive illustrated how Id like my shot to be:
  2. weird thing is that when I open my friend's correctly made turbo smooth model I get the exact same result! Im thinking this may be an issue with my 3ds max? any idea what might be wrong with my 3ds max?
  3. Hi. I've run into this weird problem when applying turbo smooth. I created a simple box , applied a chamfer modifier and then applied turbo smooth on top. As you can see some of the edges have become black and this shading issue is also visible when rendered. Any idea why is this happening?
  4. Happy New Year folks! Im trying to get a round surface without any creases. As highlighted in the image, the bottom part of the helmet is getting so many creases for some reason and Im not sure what's causing them. Could you guys help me out with this? P.S: Moving the edges and smoothing groups didnt help.
  5. I maybe wrong but personally I think there's no magic in making a good glass shader, as long as there's good stuff to reflect off of it! Here the camera angel and reflection of the trees and the sky makes the glass to stand out.
  6. As francis have mentioned, your vegetation look a bit weird. Use 3d models if you can. Itoo Forest Pack has some decent looking free samples you could use for the lawn and bushes.
  7. Thanks guys. turns out it was the issue with vray output path, simply relinked the output path in vray for both final image and vray elements and bam! I had a render.
  8. Hey guys, Recently I've been trying to start working on an old project. After hitting the render button all I get is a black screen and two errors in the v-ray messages box. I'm not sure why is this happening, weird part is that when I use the vray RT it works just fine! any suggestions?
  9. Hi guys, it's been quite a while since I've posted here. I've recently created a fairly simple wood material in which I'd like to have your opinions about it and maybe giving me few tips to improve its overall look. Cheers!
  10. Thanks for the tips man. Yea this scene obviously needs more objects in it. Will be posting updates soon. Cheers.
  11. Heres a the same scene lit with a HDRI and slightly different camera angle.
  12. Grant Warwick have covered this in his vray render optimization video on finding the noise source by adding different render elements and inspecting them individually. Try adding following elements and study each of them separately and hopefully you'd get to the noise source, although im gonna guess that its probably the material or light subdivs. vray elements: vraysamplerate, vrayglobalillumination, vraylighting, vrayreflection, vrayspecular
  13. Studio/Institution: Personal Genre: Industrial Interior Software: 3ds max,Vray Description: Hey guys. Ive been working on this project for a while now. The idea is not mine and I tried to replicate the scene from another CG artist whom work was inspiring to me. There are obviously some minor changes so its not completely copied. Anyway this scene is obviously W.I.P and I thought itd be a good idea to have other peoples opinions about it along the way till its done. Comments and critiques are most welcome and tell me whats there to be altered or improved in order to get a better looking image. Im not aiming for photo realism here but I want to make a fine CG result at the end.
