  1. Let's face it 90% of the Architectural Animations produced so far have been non-emotional and sterile. It is only recently that some have started to break the mold. I still see a lot of work consisting of the 360 fly around and the one shot walk through. It's not their fault that this is how the perceive our work, it is ours. Nils, they were not talking about your work when they said this. If you look again I think you'll see a bit of a "hats off". I'm sure going in they thought it would be easy, just build a model and render it, but they were apparently introduced to the challenges we face working on evolving designs. I agree with most of the critiques, but overall it has a pretty good feel and some parts are impressive. I am sure that if it came from one of our own we would be applauding it. What I think is great and has been touched on is that it is being accepted that a emotional, artistic piece can sell and has value. To put Sony's name on Arch Viz can only be good publicity and with our efficient pipelines, those able to produce this kind of output are in a very good place.
  2. Same version for 6,7&8 just install what you have to Max 8.
  3. they had a hard drive go down a while back and the forum has not come back a 100%, I don't seem to have as many errors when using firefox maybe that would help. You might try sending an email to vray@chaosgroup.com
  4. You could try http://www.scriptspot.com/bobo/darkmoon/bff/ You'd have to have access to Max 8 to export it though.
  5. Maybe too obscure for your paper but http://www.asterius.com/atari/
  6. Meher, since you are determined Any chance of adding some functionality as described in this paper https://www.cs.tau.ac.il/~sorkine/courses/sadna04/wang_tiles.html The Ideal to me would be to have such controls in a bitmap loader directly in max. Not to "look a gift horse in the mouth" but the addition would be great.
  7. I've always wanted a tool like this but didn't ever think on existed, I found this viewer http://www.newviewgraphics.com/ lets you view a tiled image and resize it and tab through a folder among other things. Maybe save MR.CAd some coding or inspire him
  8. Dual Xeon 3.0 800fsb 2 GB memory Supermicro x6dal-g 145.77 min
  9. I'm not sure how to get rid of it completely but if you edit Brazil_rs.ini in the plugcfg folder, change SplashTime=4 to SplashTime=0, and it won't bother you so much Still looking for where they hid the darn thing, it's been bugging me too
  10. Just a note for the guys that saw no increase between the mx and fx, you are running max in opengl, right? I can't imagine that the fx is slower. Running in software mode you might get the results you experienced.
  11. Ok, that wasn't so hard was it? I wish I would of gotten this answer several weeks ago when I first asked instead of dragging it through mud to get a response. Cheers, Eric
  12. Is there a list of the winners? Were the prizes distributed fairly or just to friends? Any winners care to pipe up? Seems odd that there was never an announcement of winners...
  13. So I guess the prizes were just BS? Or did Jeff keep them for himself and defraud us? or? I imagine some lawyers might be interested in this one...
