  1. Yeah, its pretty low for a workstation. But I am just learning 3ds Max and not a professional. My current build is too old and I wanted to build a new one in which Photoshop will be running most of the time. I also use 3ds max in my free times. So I wanted the new build to work best with Photoshop and somewhat better with 3ds max too. I am going to use this only for working and I won't be overclocking anything. So, I think I can replace i7 6700k with i7 6700, and Z170 K with H170 Pro (or) H170 Pro Gaming, without a cooler. Fractal design is not available in my place. Nearby dealer suggested Antec GX300 Case and Antec VP500PC PSU.
  2. Forgot to mention that I am a Photoshop professional, but learning 3ds max as a personal interest. So I didn't want to spend much on that since I won't deal with millions of poly's or animations. I want to build some high-end photoshop machine that will also do some good rendering. No, I don't have any. I will buy a case from a nearby dealer, but I have no idea about coolers. Any suggestions? So the i7 build is the better option between the two?
  3. Build 1 - http://pcpartpicker.com/p/hvqWhM Build 2 - http://pcpartpicker.com/p/nDN2yc I am from India. You can visit Snapdeal, Flipkart or Amazon.in for Indian price. Since these sites announced next week (12-17 OCT) for big discount offers I will be buying most of the parts from these sites. This will be used for heavy photoshop and moderate 3dsmax with vray rendering (Arch- Interiors and Exteriors) for some 3 to 5 years. Que 1 - Should I go for a build with i7 6700k and no GPU or i5 6500 and 750ti? Que 2 - DDR 3 or DDR 4? Since I will be using this for many years should I go for DDR4 which will be the standard in the coming days? Will buy an SSD in the near future. I am a bit constrained on budget. So, please suggest any builds for 3d around $680 or 50k Rupees.
  4. Hi, I am learning 3ds max. Recently made an interior scene lit wit HDRI. This was my setup. Vray dome light with HDRI map loaded for reflection. Used the same hdri as environment. This was my result. But, I didn't like the background and so wanted to change that with a random city image. I replaced the environment map with a bitmap. Added the bitmap to a material slot and made as environment screen. Then I instanced that back to the environment map. This was my result. The render was a weird looking, transparent image. No idea what's the problem. What am I doing wrong? What is the correct way to set a backplate with hdri?
  5. Hi, I was trying to render an Indoor scene lit with HDRI. Following some tutorials, I somehow got a good looking render. With a Vray Dome light loaded with HDRI and the same loaded as an Environment map, I got this. But I didn't like the background and I wanted to change the backplate with a random image from the internet. So, I replaced the map from environment map slot with a bitmap and I got this transparent, weird render. What am I doing wrong? What is the correct way to load a backplate?
  6. No, I didn't... Its only after the graphic driver update... I don't have any other 3d app installed.. But photoshop works fine.
  7. Recently I downloaded 3ds Max 2014 trial from autodesk. It worked without any problems for a week. It all started when I updated my Nvidia 630M with a WHQL certified graphics driver. When I opened Max after the driver update it closed with an application error which says that, an error has occurred and the application will now close. Now it opens after a Product Update. But the viewport is completely white. It crashes if I open a file. Tried changing the viewport renderer from Nitrous to direct 3d and open GL. If I do that 3ds Max doesn't even start and gives the same application error. But it works fine even with nitrous viewport if started in Integrated graphics. Someone please give me a solution for this vague error :( Core i5-3210M @ 2.5 GHz Windows 7 Ultimate 64bit sp1 4GB RAM 1GB Nvidia GT630M
