  1. That would be unfortunate if Vizdepot went away. I sent Steve a pm on facebook to ask what's going on. Jeff, you're fb friends with Steve too. So you can contact him there.
  2. HI

    you visited my thread...

    Please post in your comments/suggestions/crits/...

  3. Congratulations! Health and happiness to you and your new family!
  4. You're printer is ignorant. Whenever someone doesn't know what they're talking about they always tend to say "Make it 300 dpi", because that's what they've always heard. 300 dpi is great for an 8x10 print that you would look at while holding it a foot from your face. Will your client be standing a foot from the life size print? When he does, give the back of his head a gentle nudge
  5. Do you have a release date for the 2009 hot fixes coming out? Any help I can get is appreciated.
  6. Thank you for your reply. My bone of contention is not with the bugs. It's the fact that I have to pay to have the bugs fixed. I think that's unfair. I'm not sure that it's wrong to be angry about that. I feel like I'm being fairly reasonable considering how much money I've given to your company. I have one word of inspiration for you and the rest of the team at autodesk, CHAOSGROUP. That's a software company that knows how to do it right.
  7. What a bunch of bs, why can't autodesk fix the current problems with Max 2009 that I've already paid for? Why should I have to pay to upgrade to get bug fixes? Shouldn't there be a warranty for software just like there is for most things we buy? If you bought a new car that had mechanical problems or other defects, a warranty covers the repair. They don't tell you that you'll have to trade it in for next years model for more money. THEY FIX IT! This is my biggest problem with autodesk. They continue to sell us cars that don't always work and expect us to upgrade to next years model for which they claim that all of the problems have been worked out.
  8. That's nothing to brag about, imo. I would say that three releases in such a short period was a waste of effort and it was the #1 reason I cancelled my subscription to Max. I'm not even sure I used Max 2008 before Max 2009 came out SIX MONTHS LATER! Who's the brain behind that decision? I want my $500 back for my subscription that year. Why the hell didn't autodesk just wait 18 months to put out a good release after max 9? This just proves that Max 2008 and Max 2009 were released because they had to justify that the subcribers were getting their money's worth. I hope I get a chance to jump on a class-action lawsuit so I can get a refund for paying $1000 for two years of half-ass releases.
  9. Brian, Here are a few models that I've built using pictures and overall dimensions. I could build the chair with material ids for $300.00 by this Friday.
  10. There's no way I'd model that for $3.00 Seriously though, I could model it for you. PM me if the offer stands. We can talk about a price privately. I could get it done before the end of this week if your offer is fair.
  11. If you have Google Sketchup Pro you can import terrain from Google Earth then export it as a 3ds file. You could also go to www.maps.google.com and hit the terrain button to get a topo as a base to model from.
  12. 2d line work - Autocad LT 2009 (same as Autocad, much cheaper) 3d modeling - Sketchup Pro 6 for anything orthagonal, 3ds Max 2009 for organic modeling (furniture, etc.) 3d lighting and rendering - ies files for interior lights, vraysun & vray physical camera for exteriors, vray engine for rendering post production - photoshop cs2
  13. I can't seem to get rid of the jagged edges in the inserted raster image when using the Adobe PDF printer in Autocad 2008. I don't have this problem when creating pdf's in photoshop cs2 with the Adobe PDF printer. The current work around is to create a pdf of our titleblock, which comes out perfect, and open it in photoshop. Then, the jpeg is inserted into the new photoshop file where a pdf of the image with the titleblock is created without jagged lines. Obviously, it would be nice to cut out this step. Any help is greatly appreciated.
