I'm using vray 3.1, I'm saving in .exr but the hang happens before I get a chance to save and yes I've got render passes set up.

Hi v-rayers! Got this annoying problem when v-ray hangs for a while (depending on resolution) after render is done, however if I cancel the render right before it finishes everything is fine. My guess is that V-Ray is saving image to temp folder or something. Cheers,
