  1. Hey guys new vray user here, I built a scene and I theres one small moving object plus the camera moves and i found that sources online said to use IRMAPS + LC for this or BF+LC but I cant afford BF at the moment so im using the IRMAPS LC method. When rendering every now and then I crash but after restarting I find that after loading the IRR maps. It doesnt work as intended because the LC is stored in ram memory after the prepass. I followed this method and it worked but after like 20 or so frames It crashes, I think it might be a ram issue, I have some new ram in the mail anyway so I can test that out. http://docs.chaosgroup.com/display/VRAY3/Rendering+an+Animation+with+Moving+Objects+II so my thinking is I can just start the render back up using the IRR maps per frame and get going but the LC map as it was saved in ram memory im assuming is gone so i saved the LC file as well and then loaded it then and left LC as secondary engine but reading from the lC file and the irr reading the IRR files and everything else the same but once I render, it looks like im getting only the direct lighting and no secondary bounce. so as a temporary fix I restart and then do a prepass for a few frames then cancel and then start animation render and it works but my question is here, does the LC in single frame mode combine all the frames into one map OR does it use one map from one frame onto all the frames? what am i doing wrong here? I hope this makes sense. thanks guys
  2. haha im glad you understood my comment Jens, I need to explain more clearly next time
  3. ah goody the changes are good! I shouldve have been clearer I meant the bg(technically the fg lol) of the image and not the bg in the window. I will illustrate in this diagram for you, my apologies I should have been more clearer.
  4. I agree with George, the oven does look a bit washed out. I understand its meant to have a slightly foggy look to it but I think it should have more a darker cast instead of the grey for it to look better. the lampshade im guessing is meant to look all jaggy and im digging it I think it looks great BUT the shader maybe isnt working for it. It looks a bit flat and CG compared to the rest of the scene. an added bonus to the scene would be a bump or dispplacemnt on the wood panelling just to get a bit more detail and depth from the great lighting you have. George is also right again, the FG looks great no complaints but the bg does look washed out, maybe try placing a few more lights down there? if you notice at the front of the image there is alot of dynamic range working within all those shapes making it look good but and this isnt your fault, as the light travels down it softens as it would naturally (quadriatic decay) and casts this soft and even light resulting in the flatness. so my tip is add some lights in the bg, Im really liking the image though! later buddy ^-^
  5. Hey buddy this is some good looking work, very realistic and I'm liking the textures used although I would say there's possibly too much repetition and the seams are visible in the wood texture work. I would also possibly put a very blurred reflection on the tv screen as well maybe? just a tiny hint and also the glass on the side cabinets is looking a bit smokey? that could be a samples issue or is it like slightly frosted glass and if so my mistake. the wall in the background looks great, very realistic, has the look and consistency of wall paint! few tweaks but overall good job!
