  1. Hi Tom, Thanks for chiming in. You're right I should have posted all these basics settings. Since I posted this thread I managed to identify what the problem was. It actually came from a Forest Color node that was in the material. I first thought that all Forest Pack feature were working with Vray GPU but obviously I was wrong. Cheers
  2. Hi everyone, I'm currently transitioning from Vray Adv to Vray RT and got stuck with quite a weird issue. Here are 3 renderings of the same grass and leaves asset. One is in VRay Adv. Everything looks normal Second is in Vray RT using CPU. Some blades of grass are already disappearing, and saturation is lower Last one is in Vray RT using CUDA (2x 1080Ti). All the textures are suddenly fully desaturated. Any idea of where that could come from? I tried tweaking the material but there's really nothing special about it so I'm a bit lost Thanks!
  3. James : Thanks again, I'll make sure to do all that once I'm all set Dean : I can't say I would trust buying a windows license from ebay to be honest. Buying a pro license from a reseller (even the oem version) is twice as much as the home one. In France at least. Hence why I'd like to not waste money on a software I actually won't really need (all the security stuff the pro version brings are a bit useless for what I do).
  4. Ok, that's the kind of limitations and permission issues I was expecting with the update. Still I'm glad to hear it can run properly on windows Home. Thanks for clarifying all this!
  5. Hi everyone, I'm currently building a new rig and intend (quite unwillingly) to update to windows 10 for hardware compatibility reason. Still I'm unsure if I need the pro version or if the home version of windows is enough to run Vray / 3ds max / Fstorm / Photoshop etc. Vray website only shows Windows 10 Pro as a compatible operating system but it seems odd to me. If anyone could confirm me that these software would also run smoothly on windows 10 home 64bit that'd be great Cheers!
  6. Hi Nikolay, I'm currently building a new rig myself although I won't go as far as a threadripper. I've read good comments regarding the Asus Crosshair VI Hero. No BIOS issues and quite easy to overclock your CPU with it (managed to get a 1800X to 4,1Ghz without any problem from what I read). Regarding cooling solution, really depends on your case, and what you're aiming for in terms of noise. Watercooling system are now quite cheap an efficient (see Cooler Master Master Liquid 240 for example). Most of the good cases come with 140mm fans which can do the trick. Hope that helps!
  7. Hi, a couple of years I ago I wrote a quite lengthy article regarding seamless integration of cutout people in renderings. I've updated it a bit lately, taking into consideration how 3D people are now looking better (photogrammetry and all), still I rely 100% on 2D cutout integration for my daily renderings. You can check the article here : http://www.horoma.net/tutorials/how-to-populate-your-render-seamlessly The tedious part about inserting cutout is generating a full set of layers to get hue, saturation, values right. Then get directional shadows on all your cutouts. This is why I also wrote a script that creates the whole structure for each cutout, neatly, in your photoshop folder. Hope that helps! Cheers
  8. Hello everyone, I've been searching the whole forum for opinions on the new mac pro 2013 but haven't found any. I currently work on a vaio SVP laptop but it's starting to get too limited for the work I intend to do therefore I'm looking for a compact (sort of transportable) desktop solution. I mainly work on Sketchup, 3DS max + Vray, the adobe suite (PS,AI,ID,Premiere), and intend to do walkthrough and videos with the Unreal Engine 4. I was wondering if the mac pro 2013 (with bootcamp windows 8 I guess) would be suitable for my use. I've heard of drivers issues with the AMD FirePro graphic card but couldn't get to the bottom of it (latest threads being at least a year old). Any insights would be greatly appreciated (regarding the mac pro for archviz, or a potential other setup that would suit my needs) Thank you Simon
