  1. I just saw your reply. For some reason I only got the email notification now. For your question, it could work if all you're changing is the glossiness amount. But depending on your scene lighting set up it might not be enough, you might have to also mess around with other other settings like refraction IOR, diffuse colour, reflection colour etc. So having 2 separate materials makes it easier to troubleshoot and fine tune the material.
  2. You're trying to simulate 2 different materials using one shader. You said it yourself, the sides are sanded and therefore they have completely different properties to their previous state. You can achieve this using 2 separate materials with a multi subobject material. For the large sides, I'm using a normal Glass material, black diffuse, high reflection and glossiness, and 100% refraction with full refraction glossiness. For the sides, I've used the same glass material, but with 50% refraction glossiness.
  3. First question: Appears to be a simple planar uv mapping in the Z axis using a tileable texture.
  4. The file naming suggests that these are Poliigon textures, so download their script and it will automatically create the material for you. If they are not from Poliigon, download one of their free assets and use the script, then study how it builds the material for Vray. From what I can remember, the AO map is blended with the Reflection map using a composite node. The normal and bump maps are also combined using a special node that is then plugged into the bump slot.
  5. It's your first visualization so no, it won't end up looking like the images in the gallery even if you have the best tutorials. As mentioned above, to start with you need a good reference image that shows a similar setting and mood. Materials also play an important role in achieving realism. Even if we list every single requirement for realism, your next image will still not look great. Somethings simply require repetition and experience.
  6. Yeah there is a big market for this, but it's also very competitive. You'll be competing with people whose only job is modeling assets for such websites. 3dSky.org is a very popular one, but all their models are capped at $6 each so you'd need to have hundreds of models to make enough money to support yourselves.
  7. Hi Attila. I've already been using Pulze for a couple of weeks now, it's a great tool for sure. I do miss a couple of features that I liked in 'Batchcam' by Sergo Pogosyan but I'm sure Pulze will have additional functions in the future.
  8. Thanks for the tip about finding the common vertical heights, like the kitchen counter. I've tried it but it's still hard work figuring out the distance between each reference point and in the end the model is still off. I'll put this exercise on hold for now, it's proving more trouble than it's worth. I might try it with simpler photos that I'll take myself.
  9. Thanks for the explanation Francisco. It makes sense now why it was impossible to line up the geometry with the 3/4 view as well.
  10. I'm confused by what's going on here. As you can see it looks like my geometry matches the reference photo from the camera001 view, so far anyway, but in perspective it looks way off the actual design of the building, the roof shouldn't extend that much. I think the scale is correct, I have 2 cylinders representing the chairs and their dimensions are accurate. What is happening? The 2 reference images Geometry looks like it matches in this view. but the roof extends all the way to the pool.
  11. So I no longer have access to my Atiles Pro version installer because I didn't save it to my desktop when I first purchased it 3 years ago, and I have emailed the company last week but they haven't responded. Would anyone be kind enough to share with me their pro installer? I have my own license key I just can't find the installer anywhere else.
  12. I don't know if he's still accepting new jobs, in one of his previous videos he said after uploading about 100 models, he started receiving jobs from manufacturers and design studios but he only took on the interesting projects.
  13. Maybe try Artem Gogolov, he sells some of the best furniture I've seen on 3DSky, and also creates great tutorials. I haven't worked with him myself so I don't know how quickly he models. This is his channel and his contact details can be found in his videos' description. https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCKA36MgNlS3yi51ECII5xIQ
  14. Thanks for the link Lewis, those will come in handy for the background buildings. But I'd like to render close ups as well, just like in that video so I need real interiors. Itoo products are way out of my budget at the moment. I gave SiNi SiClone a go today but it's not the right tool for this particular task. Still for £5 a month I'm sure I'll find a use for it. I'll experiment with the Scatter plugin and place the furniture using the Painter tool. It also doesn't support grouped objects as a segment, so I'd have to attach each table set as a single mesh which is not ideal. It won't be my long term solution, I only need to create a couple of images for my portfolio and then we'll see once I find a job.
  15. I'm aware of this great guide by Itoo software but I don't have their products. Is there another way to do it faster than manually placing them by hand?
