  1. I was referring to the UK's economic history. It's you who has associated that only with slavery. Now that is pessimism. And as far as not being one of the largest European economies, I'm not sure what planet you live on. Your information is second hand. You're information is from sources with certain agendas. If life hasn't taught you that a lot of the time what you read and hear isn't actually the truth, then you're a fool. I really have better ways to spend my downtime than doing this, so I'm leaving it here. But don't go putting more words in my mouth. That's just weak.
  2. Throughout history, the UK has been one of the most powerful, successful and wealthy nations on earth. Which is amazing considering its size. But no country or person has ever become strong by allowing those in a weaker position to take more than they can give back. I think a large % of people who want to remain, do so because of fear. Fear of the unknown, fear of the initial change, and fear caused by propaganda. But this isn't a suitable place to start a debate like this. Nor do I respect the attempt at using it to sway people's opinions. When it comes to the actual truth of the outcome, time will tell.
  3. Believing that politicians thoroughly understand these issues and their outcomes, or base their decisions on wanting the best for the people, is naive. If I do vote then it will be for leaving. As with anything in life; the wider the resources and focus are spread, the weaker the outcome. And I want for myself, my children, and their children, to live in a country that focuses its resources on making itself as strong as it can be.
  4. I brought the .asc into Meshlab, but have not been able to get a correct mesh out of it. The file is 50cm lidar data (DTM), so I'd expect there to be a lot of detail, and the local area has a steep slope in it. All I see in Meshlab is an undetailed flat area. It'd be great if someone could take a look at it. https://murren.sharefile.com/d-sccf83c1309e47fba
  5. I have Lidar data as a .asc file. I want to create terrain from it, to use to design a building. I mostly use 3ds Max, but it seems it cannot import a .asc file. Can anyone help?
  6. A survey's not available at this point. I have the title plans, and limited access to the site (it's heavily overgrown). The developer doesn't want to heavily invest yet. They've asked me to come up with some concepts for the land, but to do so I need the sun info. Thoughts?
  7. Hi Chris, I assumed that was the only way. It doesn't have to look good but I need it to be a true representation, and for it to be as quick and as low cost as possible. How would you recommend getting all of that model information?
  8. I've been asked to work on a residential development. They need to work out the sun path and the sun's obstruction from the adjacent buildings, but I'm unsure of the best way to go about it. The development is a large house on a hill, and it is surrounded by about 10 other homes. Any suggestions for a simple & effective way to work this out?
  9. Yes I'm referring to the architect being in charge of all of the design, with changes likely to be made. So when they provide 2d drawings and elevations only (Autocad file), it sounds like I should build the 3d model in Autocad and link it into Max, instead of linking the 2d Autocad drawings into Max and using modifiers to extrude walls etc, which would then update when the Autocad file's updated?
  10. Great. Thanks Neil. So can anyone explain why so many people previously advocated remodelling everything in Max. Is it because importing Autocad models has now improved?
  11. Hi Neil. That's good to hear. And you have no issues with the geometry, or uving and texturing etc? I guess you model the building in Autocad and all of the furnishings and details are modelled in Max?
  12. What's the best workflow when working with autocad files in 3ds? I read in past threads that many people rebuild the model from scratch in 3ds, but it doesn't seem practical when the architects are still making changes throughout the project. Can autocad models be placed in the max scene and updated without any issues?
  13. That looks very useful. Cheers, I should be good to go.
  14. Great I didn't know that. Glad I posted here. The plot is covered in trees and heavy foliage. Would this not give google earth the wrong height values?
  15. Ha, well nothing's simple enough in this game. Sorry if I misread you, but is that a nod towards corona over vray?
