  1. Thank you for the very kind words. I agree about the foreground. I used ForrestPro to try and vary the grass and avoid it tiling or looking monolithic but you are right, more could be done. On to the next one
  2. Studio/Institution: CLA Genre: Residential Exterior Software: 3DS 2015, VRAY, Photoshop Description: After several months out planning my travelling around Australia, i decided to go back to my favorite scene, the barn conversion in Halsall. Applied a much more realistic brick (much more like the real barn) and a few greenery tweaks which i feel compliment it much more. A few further tweaks before i sign it off in to my folio but am i looking alright? The atmosphere is aimed at a late summers evening thus quite saturated and bathed in colour.
  3. Change the centre piece. In this particular shot which i know is purely to show the layout, the eye is immediately drawn to the plant. I think it looks a bit out of place? Plus, although this shot is to show the layout, it could be a great piece with some nice selective focus. Just take the plant out haha
  4. Yeah i agree. I have since changed the texture to a much more appropriate look but my laptop is struggling to re render the elements i presume because the grass objects and foliage. I will get around to it some day when i can sacrifice my laptop to just render and nothing else. Thanks
  5. Thanks for that, Devin. Quitting my job is happening whilst i take a break.. Not just from Arch but from the UK. I land in Australia for a minimum of 12 months, in July. So i'd be coming back from Oz (i presume). I can't really speculate how the next 18 months are going to go.. Not until i get to Oz. But Arch Viz is definitely more my future than Architecture. 100%
  6. Sound advice. I am currently setting up a scene from the rear of the garden to the barn itself so will make adjustments so both images are corrected. Thanks. Adam
  7. Studio/Institution: AWS Genre: Residential Exterior Software: 3DS Max 2015 & Vray 3 Description: Just after some thoughts. The scheme has been in with planning for a couple of months but certain elements are not going down to well with the planners. As i am leaving the practice soon to go in to purely visuals (i am an arch assistant atm), i want to take the project in its current form to develop some visuals for it... As i know if it does get built, it will be a lot more bland. Just after thoughts on it? My self critique is that i struggle with external (material) render/stucco. it is too pure, probably due to the reflectivity/self glossiness.. The cor-ten works for me though.. Thanks, Adam
  8. All replies have been helpful no matter how short or long. At the minute it is a no loose situation. I have my full time job and i will be taking my break to go travelling so it is just a way of testing the water. If i got something even for little £ per hour then it is better than nothing as i want the images for my portfolio. I can only beef up projects from the office i work at so far. I am always looking for new challenges and to try out new methods to further my development. Thanks to all, again. Adam
  9. Good solid advice, thank you. My issue is i no longer wish to pursue a career as an 'architect'. All the red tape, regulations and construction detailing is not for me.. At uni it was fine, but i was always looking to 'make my first model' or 'how soon can i do my first render'... Not the thoughts so an architect! My plan is to end my current arch assistant job in July and visit Australia for the rest of the year. It is when i return early 2017 i'll be coming back to no job, That is the crucial period. I could look at arch viz companies sure in the hope i can procure a few clients.. Other than that i'd have to stay with parents and start from the bottom. It ought to be worth it though right? Earning £/$ for something you take joy and pride from is everybodies dream...
  10. As per the title. I along with many others are looking to take my career away from 'Architecture' and go in to the 3D field. My skills are still developing of course but i believe with what i know, i could be of use to somebody. I came across peopleperhour just from a Google search and had a look at some examples of people on there - their portfolio's, reviews and asking price per hour. I would be interested in signing up as a starting point, but just want people's advice if they have any experience on that website. Thank you, Adam
  11. Very generous and i am sure will be appreciated by all. All the best of success with your venture!
  12. Has anybody tried to make this as a VRay texture? I'd assume it would just be a standard case of dark grey for diffuse, a bit of self glossiness and reflection? I just can't seem to get it right. Its probably so simple but i am never satisfied. The Ral is 7005 so Anthracite Grey. Thanks
  13. Them Arroway textures are superb. Who competes best with them for VRAY compatible ones? I don't use Maxwell.
  14. Maybe a shadow gap between the wall and the ceiling? Because they meet perfectly in the current situation, it looks bare? Maybe if the plasterboard stopped 10-20mm before hitting the ceiling surface, that would help. Also, does it all need to be an exposed concrete ceiling? could it not have parts which drop like floating ceilings, maybe with strip lighting to make them 'glow'? I just think large expanses of the same look can become repetitive. Plus, with varying ceiling levels, it allows for a variety of different light fittings, again adding variety to the scene. That floor again.. Gets better each time
