  1. So I recently had a company approach me to turn their design into realistic rendering that can be printed out. So they wanted to print something that will be at least 300DPI. So I had to render BIG!! But when they contacted me, they put a 3D render on top of a google street view and told me "that what we are looking for". I estimated that just for the building to be in 3D it would take me at least 10 days. Most of the days would be taken by rendering. But I gave myself some wiggle room to compensate for render issues and renders taking much longer than anticipated. What I am annoyed with the most is, that how "vague" all the information was in what they desired. All the details they gave me was "realistic". Is this common and should I have went into detail on what would take so long? Or should I keep my emails short?
  2. When you have a long render, usually the system stores page files on the hard drive and loads up your ram with information. After the image has finished rendering, you computer actually takes a long time to 1st of all save the render. Then it removes all temporary files on HD and clears ram . When I render something that rendered over 2-4 hours. It usually takes Maya + vray 3.1 about 5-10 minutes to become back to life. Sometimes I even have to manually close out maya because it's frozen.
  3. Anyone got any good tips on how to break up the texture tiling looking fake? I'm kind of lost on how to do this.
  4. Thank you or your reply. I used 3DSM at work for few months couple years back. I was so used to Maya I didn't give it a try. I know V-ray from one software to another is pretty much the same options (different location). I'll be hanging out in these forums asking tons of question to learn 3DSM then lol.
  5. So I'm learning ArchViz on Maya. I'm getting "okay" at it. But I noticed the Maya section in the forums is pretty much dead. If you have 3+ years in archviz I'm assuming majority of studios are using 3DSM?
  6. I can confirm it is there in Vray 3.1
