  1. I tried to post a few days ago but hit hasn't show up. so apologies if this is ends up a double post. First time building a PC, Using it to learn & Develop skills in 3Ds Max and Vray. So primary use will be Arch modelling and Rendering. I sometimes use Photoshop for photography editing. Budget is around £800-£900 but can go to around £1K if its going to be worth it. Below is the parts I have picked so far. Looking for advice on anything that would be changed. PCPartPicker part list / Price breakdown by merchant CPU: Intel Core i7-6700 3.4GHz Quad-Core Processor (£248.98 @ CCL Computers) CPU Cooler: Cooler Master Hyper TX3 54.8 CFM Sleeve Bearing CPU Cooler (£23.95 @ Amazon UK) Motherboard: Gigabyte GA-Z170N-Gaming 5 Mini ITX LGA1151 Motherboard (£125.89 @ Dabs) Memory: G.Skill Ripjaws V Series 16GB (2 x 8GB) DDR4-2400 Memory (£72.90 @ More Computers) Storage: Samsung 850 EVO-Series 250GB 2.5" Solid State Drive (£56.26 @ Amazon UK) Video Card: EVGA GeForce GTX 750 Ti 2GB Superclocked Video Card (£94.99 @ Novatech) Case: Corsair 380T Mini ITX Tower Case (£97.98 @ Amazon UK) Power Supply: EVGA SuperNOVA GS 550W 80+ Gold Certified Fully-Modular ATX Power Supply (£64.99 @ Aria PC) Total: £785.94 Prices include shipping, taxes, and discounts when available Generated by PCPartPicker 2015-12-21 11:17 GMT+0000 NOTES I went ITX because I really like that case. And it will be sitting on top of my desk. So small and good looking are key. Never went for 6700K as I have no clue about overclocking. PSU, also no clue when it comes to these. Used a couple online calculators and choose a higher rating. GPU. Not sure if this card would be overkill for max? I'm aware all M/Vray rendering is CPU based. I have old hard drives from laptops I plan to use.
  2. Hello from the UK! Been lurking this forum for a while. finally made an account Started using 3Ds Max in college and turned a bit of a hobby once I left. I now work full time doing 2D drawings. Looking to build my Viz skills enough to try get some part time freelance stuff.
  3. First post. Hello from the UK! Never built a PC before so looking for advice on the below build for 3Ds Max and Vray. Machine will be used to build my skills and eventually/ hopefully, pick up a couple of freelance jobs. Will mostly be used for Arch modelling and Renders. I also use Photoshop for some photography stuff. I have some experience with max and mental ray from college (3 years ago). My budget is £1k but would like to keep it between £800-£900. Can you please give me any advice for the build below? PCPartPicker part list / Price breakdown by merchant CPU: Intel Core i7-6700 3.4GHz Quad-Core Processor (£248.98 @ CCL Computers) CPU Cooler: Cooler Master Hyper TX3 54.8 CFM Sleeve Bearing CPU Cooler (£23.95 @ Amazon UK) Motherboard: Gigabyte GA-Z170N-Gaming 5 Mini ITX LGA1151 Motherboard (£129.89 @ More Computers) Memory: G.Skill Ripjaws V Series 16GB (2 x 8GB) DDR4-2400 Memory (£74.24 @ More Computers) Storage: Samsung 850 EVO-Series 250GB 2.5" Solid State Drive (£56.99 @ Amazon UK) Video Card: Asus GeForce GTX 950 2GB Video Card (£120.00 @ CCL Computers) Case: Corsair 380T Mini ITX Tower Case (£97.98 @ Amazon UK) Power Supply: EVGA SuperNOVA GS 550W 80+ Gold Certified Fully-Modular ATX Power Supply (£64.99 @ Aria PC) Total: £817.02 NOTES I'm really not sure how much I should be spending on a GPU, is higher end cards only recommended if I'm going to use Vray RT and Iray? or is there visible viewport performance? Also the PSU, I have no clue when it comes to PSU, I done a couple calculations online then doubled the recommended. Will this be one be suitable? I already have spare hard drives from old PC/ Laptops that I plan to use. Went ITX because I really like the case. Is that a silly compromise?
