  1. yes, you can try one (or more) medium to dark gray colored ambient light with shadows on. depending on the scene you may even get a faked AO. regards, george
  2. or you could try an ambient light & AO regards, george
  3. hi, if you watch it carefully you'll notice that there more lights than the sun. it seems to me that the project was set-up for interior shots (every room has it's setup) and then it was rendered with the roof "not visible by camera". this is what happens when the ceiling is set to off!
  4. hi, i've done this using Cinema4d Sketch&Toon module.
  5. hi, tnx for your comments, they hit right to the spot. this was the first time that i've applied the DoF effect, so it was an "exploring" procedure. The effect ain't a post effect in terms of using an external photo-editing application. i've used DoF build-in post effect in Cinema4d.
  6. hi, these are some images of a project i did about 4 months ago. the design is not mine, i just did the visualization. i've used Cinema4d & Archicad.
  7. hi, i am sure that other users will come up with many solutions (depending on what you are after for), but a simple way to do it is to animate the brightness values in case you have load it in the color and/or luminance-transparent channel. hth, george
  8. hi, this is a simple xpresso set-up of parallel cameras. it ties the DOF target distance with the near clipping. this way you can set it precisely by moving the central orange handle of the camera hth, george
  9. hi there are 2 ways i can think of 1) just add +x in the Coords Manager. x is the moving distance. c4d will do the math for you. 2) click the move icon, go to Attribute Manager->Snap Settings->quantize->set the desired movement. this will effect every movement from now on. hth, george edit: sorry, i didn't see the posts above. i got a new lazy mouse that doesn't like to scroll
  10. that's strange. dwg import supports r13-2008 .dwg files. did you close the autocad scene before importing? "Note that the AutoCAD scene to be imported must be closed before importing to CINEMA 4D." hth, george
  11. hi STRAT, would you consider it almost-flicker-free? AO_test_movie that's the best i could do. i've noticed that the flicker happens approx. every 1 sec. it might be some kind of "refreshing (?)" AO shading. hth, george ps: AO can be a lot of fun!
  12. hi own1221, i'll test the file later. i don't know how max handles material's properties, but can you control the value of reflected lighting ?(diffuse?) can you assign a diffuse illumination model such as blinn, oren-nayar, or phong? if you can you should be able to have access to sliders that control the diffuse & fall-off amount. what kind of lighting are you using? if you fake the lighting, using lights above the openings, i think that they should attenuate using inverse-square law.
  13. that's an interesting scene. could you upload a .3ds file? i am cinema4d used i would like to give it a try. normally i would place one or two area lights as shown in the attachement
  14. hi, i don't own FRender, but there is a workaround for it. http://www.cebas.de/forums/smf/index.php?topic=6913.0 scroll down for the link. it's about a xpresso expression, from which i've learned a lot of things about complex xpresso setup. let me know if it works for you, i am considering of buying FRender. cheers, george
