  1. Studio/Institution: Personal Genre: Other Software: Sketchup, 3DS Max, Photoshop Description: A render I did for uni, looking for feedback on how I can improve for future reference
  2. Hi all, just wondering why the industry tends to lean towards 3DS Max so much more than Maya for arch vis? I know that at the end of the day its your ability and not the software which achieves the results, but are there some more specific features that 3DS Max has which gives it a competitive edge?
  3. Hi all, I'm at the moment trying to decide if I should use Sketchup or Rhino for visualisation. Both programs are perfectly capable, however I'm just looking for some perspectives on why some people may choose one over the other. Thanks, Jayden
  4. Hi all, I've just finished up at uni in the last week and I'm looking at starting my own business in arch vis. For anyone who has gone through this process, is there anything you wish you knew when you started that you now know/wish someone had told you earlier? Thanks, Jayden
  5. As the title suggests, regardless of price, which is better - Daydream or Samsung VR?
  6. Hi all, I'm trying to locate all of the Alucobond in a Revit project, rather than manually looking through in 3D and sections, etc, is there any way I can search to find/highlight it all? Thanks, Jayden
  7. Hi Jeff, I don't consider myself an ArchViz guru, so I'll keep my crits a bit more general. First is figures, I always find a scene without people in it is a little bit desolate. My personal favourite is the black transparent silhouette. Second is the sky, it looks a little like the render is incomplete, so adding a sky image would really help a lot! And lastly is the styles. You've super imposed the render over a photo, that is, the real with the unreal. Try get some consistency, perhaps just do basic form models for context builds and roads & just render them white or some neutral colour for a bit of stylistic consistency! Modelling the roads and basic cubes for context buildings doesn't take long & will save you from trying to get the render on the same angle as the photo. Additionally, it will also give you the freedom to render from whichever angle you want! Hope this helps!
  8. Hi all, I've been fiddling around with 3DS Max Interactive, whenever I setup a scene my character falls through the ground because I haven't got any colliders, but I can't seem to find out how to create them - any suggestions? Thanks

  10. Hi, I'm currently working on my portfolio and developing a workflow. At the moment I work in Revit>3DS Max, however I'll soon be moving over to Sketchup/Rhino. Is the best way to go for modelling off plans to do it in Sketchup/Rhino, or just model the whole thing in 3DS? I'd love to hear feedback & the various other workflows people use!
  11. Hi, I'm currently working on building a folio & developing my work flow. I currently go from Revit to 3DS Max, but I'll soon be switching to either Rhino and/or Sketchup. How do other people work? Do most people model in Sketchup/Rhino then export to 3DS? Or is just modelling based on plans in 3DS the way to go? I'd love to hear all the different workflows people use! Thanks for your feedback
  12. Thanks! In Canberra, Australia. I'd like to do VR, exterior & interior renders & interactive 360. I have some basic student renders I can link later, but nothing really great. I'd like to spend some time building a strong folio. First I'd go back to my old uni projects and visualise them a lot better, & do a few photo real kitchen renders as a beginning. I've also done a bit of VR for a research project at uni where I recreated Rem Koolhaas' Agadir Hotel & convention centre (1990) & brought it into Unity. No pay would probably be possible, but only for a very very short period of time, I also don't really believe in working for free to gain some exposure.
  13. I currently work in a firm in Australia as a student, however they don't really want to bother with beautiful artistic images - I'm about to graduate from my master of architecture, but I want to spend some time doing my own thing, 3D art, VR, arch visualisation & working from home.
  14. I'm looking to get started as a freelancer in architectural vis, does anyone have any suggestions? Thanks
