  1. Hey Andrew, I don't think I have the answer to your display problem. To me it looks like a color depth problem (maybe the Vray FB color depth is not high enough to display nice gradients) but I might be totally off... What I would like to know, if you don't mind, is how your Vray upgrade went? Any issues or bugs or problem going from 1.5 to 2.0? I've been postponing this upgrade (as well as Max 2010 to 11!!) for quite a while because I just can't afford to lose even half a day with technical issue. So some reassuring words would help me do the jump :-)) thanks in advance for your time, and I hope you'll find a cure to your display problems. Cheers,
  2. Hi Novel, First you want to check the checker box in your bitmap (Material Editor) like you usually do to display them in the viewport. Then you probably need the multiplier of your VrayLightMtl to be higher than 1... it is directly related to your VrayCamera settings so I cannot give you a magic number. Try 10-30 (it could even be 100 if your ISO is very low and shutter speed very fast...??!!). I'm sure this is enough to fix your issue. Cheers,
  3. Hi Tim, Why is there a Gamma 0.5 written on the top of you window (left thumbnail)? Check the Max gamma setting in your preferences. If not that, we'll dig deeper :-)
  4. hi can u tell me how can i submit images to pro?

  5. Hi Aly, Are you sure you don't have the lights checked in the display/Hide by catergory tab? If not that... I don't know good luck!
  6. Hi Warren, you simply right click on your object - properties. Then you untick "visible to camera" but you leave "visible to reflections and refractions" ticked... You can also untick "cast and receive shadows" as I'm sure you don't want your plane to cast shadows... That's all. Enjoy :-)
  7. Hi Said, Check if all your materials are Vray Materials (Standard materials aren't so good with Vray) or if you have VrayLightMaterials with very high values. These are the 2 things that come to mind... It might be something else, but check these first. good luck!
  8. I couldn't use max without my Wacom... I have a shorcut for pan, rotate and zoom (instead of using the mouse), but I find it so much faster, and the hand position is more natural. anyway, like I said, it's each and everyone's taste.
  9. exactly : HABIT I've been using max for 13 years... this thinguy has been added in the past 2 or 3 versions. If you use a mouse, there the wheel + ALT = that rotates the view I personally use a Wacom pen table, so I have a shortcut for the "orbit view" option. I don't even have to move my cursor to activate the view rotation tool (not even to the top right of the view, which is still too far away for me - I mean, how many view rotations do I do per day? 1000 at least?? no way I want to move my cursor anywhere that many times a day!) Anyway, there are a thousand ways of working, but to be efficient, the keyboard shorcuts are your best friends! :-) Good luck! Matt
  10. Oh I see! Well, you should write this to Autodesk! they will be glad to see at least 1 people uses this box thingy :-)) I personally hate it because, as you said, it's totally random. Are there a lot of people here that use the box orbit tool thing? Curious to know. I use the old shortcuts R for right, L for Left, T for Top, B for Bottom, etc... Much faster in my opinion that having to wait for the view to rotate. Matt
  11. Hi, to me, it's just a matter of changing the orbit option at the bottom right end corner or the UI. Select Orbit Sub-Object. When you select something in sub-object mode, the view will rotate around the selection. If this is not it, please re-explain your problem :-) cheers, Matt
  12. Hi, go in sub-object polygons mode. Select all. Flip. It should fix your problem. Cheers, Matt
  13. Hi all, This question might have been asked already, but I didn't find the answer (using the search tool). I would like to add a computer to my renderfarm and the new configuration needs to run with Windows 7 (for blu-ray writer compatibility amongst other things). My question is: Will DR work properly if all the other slaves run with WinXP64 (as well as my workstation)? For info, I use Max Design 2010 and Vray 1.50 SP4a. I don't think I am ready to switch my worksation to Windows 7 quite yet... Thanks a lot in advance for your replies!!
  14. It shows the objects by order of creation. I don't like it that much either, but it can be helpful sometimes... You might as well get used to it now, because I'm pretty sure Autodesk won't go back to the old select tool in Max 2010 (and who knows, you might not even be able to switch to the old selecting tool like it's possible now). My 2 cents anyways
  15. Yep, a really different one indeed Just a question (maybe a stupid one!)... why use interpolation? I thought it was doing fake reflection/unrealistic results. Did I misunderstand something??
