1. You can enable adaptive sampling, this will reduce the amount of fur based on the distance from the camera. Then you should be able to render almost any size. grass covered island
2. Why don't you just render the grass in Microstation using the Luxology engine? fur/grass with microstation
3. great that you found a solution!

hi abmitalia, the renderings times are from 30minutes to about 2 hours.

thanks abmitalia and gatsu! :-)
6. just a simple Microstation V8i test - a bedroom. Everything is modeled in Microstation, no imported objects/meshes. more images HERE other Microstation+Luxology tests HERE
7. I could not agree more - I seee a lot of these 3-pt views really destroying otherwise great renderings...
8. very nice mood, but I agree about the blur. One other problem is the background photo: It's hotizon is to low. To find the exact position is to extend all lines towards the perspective focal point. The focal point will be at the correct position of the horizon
9. I've used Microstation for many years, and I admit that I have struggled a lot with the rendering capabilities of the program. I've tried VRay and Maxwell Render with some luck, but I hated the fact that I had to export the file and render in another software. With luxology render this not a problem anymore - it is 100% integrated in Microstation, and it works almost perfectly, yet it is still in a beta stage.
10. good luck, Jeff - it's a great society you have made here! Any plans of expanding into book publishing? I'm a great fan of "Ballistic Publishing", but it would be great with something more directed at architects/ architecture viz.
11. the rendering times are a lot better now, I think about the same as Mental ray
12. yes! It's the same render engine as in Modo 401 - but the GUI in Microstation is just an expanded version of the typical Bentley material editor - no shader tree (good move, I think)
