  1. Scenario: We are working with a very large scene, 15-20 Million Polys, and navigating the scene is a nightmare. We're looking into hardware upgrades, but until then, we have tried XREFing each building in. (We're working with several buildings over several city blocks, each pretty moderately detailed.) We have XREF'd in, say 6 different buildings, each from a different reference scene, and each having certain walls that have the same brick material applied as the other 5, though not having all the same materials as the others. Question: Is there a way for me to change the brick material in one of the XREF'd scenes and have it take effect on all 6 of the buildings that I have XREF'd in, without having to go in and change the material in each of the 6 reference scenes? (Note: I am working with 3DS Max and V-Ray)
  2. This looks great! I'm no expert by any means, so take it or leave it, but I've discovered that mixing things up in my foreground helps a lot... whether it be a shadow, or a patch of dead grass among all the green. Maybe I'm desperate to see something different after doing so many renderings with vast parking lots in the foreground, but there are my two cents. In real life this shot probably looks just like this, but even Photoshop tweaks like a vignette or something could pull me in. Great Image!
  3. Studio/Institution: Architectural Nexus Genre: Commercial Exterior Software: 3DS Max - V-Ray - PS Description: I'm new, I've been rendering for about 6 months, and I wanted to get some advice and feedback from those in the industry. Feel free to nit-pick! I know there are some small detail items I missed, but this was a conceptual rendering of sorts, so I wasn't totally going for photo-realistic. Thoughts?
