  1. I got it. I deleted all the lights and clicked off a few more boxes in the v-ray global settings. I don't know what worked but I saved the pre-set.
  2. I did a walk-thru animation and want to render out a v-ray mtl-id only to adjust colors in after-effects. I should have done this at the same time but I didn't and when I try it now with global illumination turned off it still take too long. I turned off lights and textures but it is still calculating something. I am also using a v-ray camera. Any ideas how to render this pass out quickly? It renders out in 10 minutes and I was hoping it would be like a scenline render pass of a few seconds a frame. Thanks
  3. gnomen has two training dvd's that are pretty good. http://www.thegnomonworkshop.com/dvds/cni01.html
  4. There is a program from Apple called "Keynote". It is very similar to Powerpoint but has better transitions and the presentation looks much cleaner, more visually pleasant than Powerpoint. Only runs on Macs though. pmanahan
  5. sketchup and maya, I am not an architect but a visualizer/illustrator in this field. pmanahan
  6. Can't help you with that but I do have a comment about the image. It is very nice but the one thing I noticed was the color on the outside of the lower part of the leather chair and the side of the footstool. Add a fill light to bounce some of the warmth from the red floor onto those areas, it looks a bit cool to me. There is a lot of color in leather. nice piece. pmanahan
  7. It looks great! This may be a bit picky but there doesn't seem to be enough light inside the room for how bright it is outside and how big the windows are. I stayed at a resort once where there was a forest fire going on in the area and it looked similar to this only with an orange hugh to everything. There is a hard shadow on the ground but not that big a value difference between the light and the shadow. A sea fog would scatter the light where as the smoke seemed to block the light. Again though it looks outstanding, very peaceful and inviting. pmanahan
  8. Brian, I have a question about your setup. When iI setup a plane with a map on it the image is very pixelated. Is there a setting in Max to bump up the interface map resolution? Thanks for doing this for everyone. pmanahan
  9. The bauhaus site is wonderful! Thanks for the link. pmanahan
  10. We break out the models into smaller pieces, export the bits as OBJ or 3DS and reassemble in 3DMax. Try using the advanced controls and the preview button really helps also in Rhino. pmanahan
  11. What about adding some shoes and boxes to the scene? Very nice images though they do look crowded but most stores like this are crowded. An aerial view would be nice to show off the floor plan/space better. pmanahan
  12. We have had good results out of Aftereffects outputting a photojpeg at 50% quality. pmanahan
  13. They look really nice, especially the colors in the sunset view. The only comment I have is that they look a bit like a doll-house model. Maybe just chamfer your edges on the building, sign etc and have more reflected light in the shadow areas. The 3d people themselves look like dolls which adds to the look. pmanahan
  14. I am not an architect so i won't comment on that, but visually I think the texture is overpowering the image. I like the sketchy effect, it's nice but a bit strong. I was very intrigued when I saw the thumbnail, I was hoping the whole image was more sketchy. So either try making the house more sketchy to match the effect or tone down the sketch effect to match the house. Move the sun also, the back and side of your house are the same values, I would make one side darker than the other. pmanahan
  15. Nice image. I don't care for the angle you picked though. It looks like a picture of the side of a building for reference rather than an illustration that tells a story. I like to see doorways so I would like to see some of the front of this building. pmanahan
