  1. I haven't been active lately on the forum because I slowly drifted away from 3D as my employer was driving nuts. But now I quit that job and started doing that at home and now starting my own business!! A long time dream for me to be my own boss! I felt like I was speaking chinese with them for years. They never understood anything about 3D but as long as it payed. So I made the leap and planning to get back up to speed on things. My first question how has GPU rendering evolved since I last came here? Is something should look into before buying new workstations? Thanks again guys... feels like coming back home!
  2. I also checked using the to see if all machines can see the license using http://hostiphere:30304/ and they all see it
  3. I can't seem to find any zip (or max) file in the backburner folder on the machine that has the manager running. Also the render nodes only have a deployment of max so I can't run max from there as it is not activated This is the weirdest problem I have ever seen in my 3D career
  4. Thanks Scott. I only have 3 renders nodes and 2 workstations. So the max connection is not the issue. I am using XP64 across all machines with max 2011 v-ray 1.5 and backburner 2008.1.1 All the computers see the license, even more odd... I can render with my workstation no problem and all is fine but when backburner submit a job to the same workstation , the job is received, everything starts ups and when time comes to start rendering it just jams on "Transforming vertices" and then the backburner server gives the could not obtain license error. I have tried many many things to try and fix this issue but nothing is working. I reinstalled backburner, I gave each machine a static IP and everything is pointing to the right places. I have the same settings as the workstation next to me (which works just perfect) and still nothing works!! I am seriously starting to think about reformatting which I would like to avoid. I have only 2 out of the 5 available computer working.
  5. I’ve been having this problem lately with one of my render nodes not seeing the v-ray license while using backburner. Now my main workstation has that same problem. When I render directly through max using v-ray , all is fine but when backburner sends a render, it doesn’t see the license with either error (0) or (-209) from one time to another. I had recent problems with my outlook crashing for no apparent reason so the IT here created a new user in windows and copied the settings from to previous user account into that new one. Could this be a part of the problem? I don’t know what to do about this issue anymore. Please help!
  6. Hey guys, I have been having this problem since this morning. when I send out a job through backburner... I get a "could not obtain license" error. But yet when I start that same render on my workstation (F9) I have no license problem and also no problem using DR. Can someone point me in the right direction to solve this problem? I have renders to get done overnight through backburner and it's not working!! Help!
  7. Hi guys, I have this rush project featuring a Bombardier Spyder motorcycle. I have looked on 3D02 and Turbosquid but can't find one. Does anyone here know where i can find one? I am willing to pay for the model. Thanks to all for your help!
  8. thanks a bunch Collin... Just to let you know I've been using your script for years now. Very happy to see it updated
  9. I would want to be making the shop drawings plans for this!
  10. I'd give the linear workflow a try... In color mapping panel, switch from exponential to linear, tick the linear workflow checkbox an put a gamma of 2.2 That'll brighten the scene a little because i find it to be very dark in the shadow areas. But still nice work overall!
  11. If you actually bought this of of this "guy", I'd ask for a refund right away because you got scammed
  12. Hi guys, After searching everywhere, I couldn't find nothing on the subject. I last week my master server died on me and I had to change all of may maps, ies, models, etc. to another computer untill we get the server fixed (and upgraded to 64bits). Here is where the problem lies... I have to relink all bitmaps and external links to this new server. Bitmaps are not a problem with the relink bitmaps maxscript. But I can't automatically relink all my ies light files and vrmesh files. This has to be done by hand one by one. I can get quite annoying with certain scenes. And when comes render time, if I forgot only one files, problems start happening like those darned different buckets. So after all this my question is... is there some sort of script or utility that would not forget ANY links?? Thanks for the replies
  13. Why do you think they have such low prices? Like anybody that is outsourcing to them.. they are in this industry for making money!
  14. I personnaly use NURMS... I made a shortcut to switch it on or off while modelling which is really handy. Either than that I don't really see a difference between NURMS and Turbosmooth.
