  1. Hi All, I am looking to travel to New York this year for work and was wondering whether anyone knows of any CG/Architecture/Visual/Furniture events going on there at any point? I have had a look online and it doesn't seem to be coming up with anything so thought i would ask to see if anyone can suggest anything? My company are happy to pay for the trip as long as i can relate it somehow to CGI's so am keen to find something. Thanks in advance Michael
  2. Hello, Has anyone got any good advice/techniques/plugin suggestions on how to create this chalk pit wall around a site. I'm not sure whether its worth modelling it when they may be a plugin that could create something for me? I have attached an image of the chalk pit wall. Thanks in advance Michael
  3. Hi there, I'm trying to create a 3D siteplan in Revit. I have imported a topographical survey into Revit and then copied into "3D View". When panning in "3D View" it looks like it has found the levels and has crate a 3d topo of it. (shown in JPEG attached in dark blue). Is there anyway to grab what it's created in dark blue rather than going around and placing the points myself? Many thanks Michael
  4. The issue is i do want the trees to still cast shadows on other objects. Also i turned off "visibility to camera" & "Cast shadows" and i still get the same issue?
  5. Hi there, I'm having issues with a render of mine. I'm trying to hide a forest created by forest pack but keep the shadows, but when i turn off the "visibility to camera" option i still seem to get the outline of the trees. (look at image attached) Anyone know how to fix this? Thanks Michael
  6. So is there anyway round it? For example if i use the 16gb computer as the master would that help?
  7. Hi there I'm currently working on a scene which is a walk through animation. The scene is quite large and the times it's taking to render each frame on one computer was taking to long. The scene also has forest objects in it So I've set up distributed rendering but am having a few issues. I believe its due to Ram issues. My master computer has 32gb of Ram My slave computer has 16gb of Ram The problem is the slave doesn't kick into help with rendering until the master computer is 3/4 of the way through rendering the frame or the slave computer just crashes. Does anyone know how i can get around this? I have read somewhere that the slave should be the one with more RAM but not sure how true this is? Thanks in advance
  8. Took a while but finally did it. Next time will be buying the floor generator haha.
  9. Thanks guys, I don't have access to Railclone or a floor generator so looks like im going to have to do it the Photoshop way. Thanks very much Michael
  10. Hello, Anybody have any ideas/advice on how to turn a normal brick texture into a herringbone style brick within Photoshop or something else. I have attached the brickwork that i want in Herringbone style but cant think of a way to change it to Herringbone. Thanks in advance Michael
  11. Hi there, I'm having an issue with importing a revit model site plan into 3dsmax. When i import it via an FBX when it is put into Max some of the meshes are extremely tessellated. Is there any work around or fix that people know of? Many thanks Michael
  12. Thanks very much, that advice has helped a lot. Played around with the sun position and it has given it a much better look. Thanks
  13. Studio/Institution: Michael Genre: Residential Exterior Software: 3DS Max, VRay, Photoshop Description: Hi there I'm currently working on a street scene which has 2 new properties on it. I am in need of some feedback as i just think its not to the level i want it to be at and would love some advice on where i am going wrong in the image. Any advice on the areas I could improve on, or any areas that you feel let the scene down? Thanks Michael
  14. Thanks guys that worked great, spent too much time trying to make it more complicated and turned out being very simple
  15. Hi there, This is going to be quite hard to explain so sorry if you dont understand it. I have 2 shapes one which is a curve and one which is more of a box shape. (Shown in the image) Its meant for a bay window which is shown in another image attached. They need to be joined together but smoothly but every way i have so far i haven't manage too. Is there an easy to model them so they blend one another so they create one shape. Many thanks Michael
