  1. Good modeling work. My 2c: - There's a black line outlining the structures, perhaps due to the black background from the raw render? Save as exr (or another alpha capable source) and make your backgrounds transparent. -The underside of the curved soffit facing the cam seems to be too reflective -That same soffit seems to be needing smoothing out at the curve where the sharp boxy highlight is -The composition could benefit from a background with trees and other structures, particularly on the right hand side. Unless of course there's a cliff/ocean there
  2. Don't tell nobody, but sometimes, on a window that's distant from camera, I use the 3ds native window generator. Shhhh.
  3. Hey Guys, Been playing around with TyFlow lately and thought I'd demonstrate how I used it to generate some falling leaves on some of my animations. Check it out below and I hope you find it useful.
  4. AMD all the way FTW. I recently picked up a 3950x myself which got me the best bang for my buck since the gen3 threadrippers are a bit more pricey.
  5. This topic does indeed seem to cycle over and over every few years. I still recall when SketchUp was all the fuss and how it was surely to become the end of our industry. The good'ol days. The key for survival is to hone in on our particular set of skills, to master that which is most valuable that we offer as artists, and then adapt by using the ever increasing tools at our disposal to continue in the process of mastering our craft. All these programs mentioned above are simply tools. Nothing more. Sure, some "tools" have become simple enough so that any architect can now produce standard subpar visuals via the likes of Twinmotion or Lumion. But to create something worthy of being called art, visuals that beautifully work at selling a concept or design, still requires (and IMO it always will) a specialized individual dedicated to perfecting his craft. Be that individual and you'll survive just fine. Call it Industrial Darwinism.
  6. You can apply this concept to static palms models
  7. What I've done is animate static models myself. You can achieve this by selecting a few random vertex tips at the palm frond edges, soft select to spread selection, add an animated noise modifier and tweak to simulate movement.
  8. Been running 3 monitors for almost 10 years now. I'll never go back to two. One monitor running email/folders/frame buffer, center monitor running 3ds, and remaining monitor running CAD/Revit/Internet.
  9. Thanks Scott, but to be fair, that video doesn't really show the process for animations. In fact, there is very little that i can find web-wide specificially on denoising animations. My inquiry is mostly on how to incorporate the denoiser onto animation workflows. I've noticed that Vray has a standalone denoise tool, which they recommend using. Is this how you guys did it? Or did you just save the individual denoiser render element for each frame?
  10. Hi all, it's been ages since I posted here. So my bread and butter has always been still images, but, I've been commissioned to create my first animated walkthrough of an exterior/interior of a home. I'm trying to sort out the latest and greatest work process for creating animations on vray 3.4. Few questions: -What's the process for incorporating the Denoiser in Vray 3.4 for the animations? -Should I still use IL + LC?.. or are we using brute now for animations?
  11. I have a synology 712 (i believe it's been discontinued and replaced with a 713) and I love it. Quick, quiet, reliabhle and lots of nice features. I have an external drive hooked up to it and automatically backs up my stuff every night
  12. Hi Ivan, Looks good man. It's hard to tell why the rendering took so long. 3 days is wayyy too long. Are you using MR or Vray? Hit me up at email with your setting so I can take a look at them and advise. Looks good tho man.. Metal material could use some work and so can grass. When you add in ppl, I suggest to also brighten image a little in Photoshop.
  13. My workload has grown a bunch in recent times to the point where I can't handle it myself anymore. It's incredibly hard to look for talented people who can help me with my workload. If you have the skills necessary to produce great images on short timelines, write me up at sancheuz@cgsketch.com. I tried posting on the jobs forum section of this site but it takes me to a 404 error message. So, sorry moderators, if this post violates any rules, please inform me and delete.
