  1. their blurred because its part of an animation. i might have over done it, but i thought the blurring gave it a softer look. the tower image was for a competitoin in dalian, china. modeled in viz, light is from an hdri map. actually their are no lights, just an hdri map.
  2. no comments about my stuff? is it that bad?
  3. here's some stuff i did this past yr. all vray.
  4. i'm surprised no one is trying to go into the world of pixar, ilm, etc. i got really good at 3D at my firm. i've put together a nice demo reel and soon will be sending it to the big wigs of CG film. its a long shot but worth a try. set really lofty goals for yourself. i did. i thought to myself what is the next level up from doing 3D architecture. the next logical step is to go into CG film.
  5. does anyone know of any architects that did 3D that have now gone on to Pixar, ILM, or any big-legure animation firms?
  6. is anyone interested in doing research for 3D stuff at a research university? i have a m.arch from a pretty reputable university, but i don't have my license. doing 3D full-time has gottne me to stop working on my license and i am not sure when it's going to startup again. my greater goal is to be part of a arch univ. and research and teach. if the income is not good enough, freelance or teach more on the side at tech schools. anyone out there have similar goals? btw, those who do teach, how is the teaching pay?
  7. is their anyone out there that is teaching 3d on the side? i'd like know how that experience is. i'm currently working full-time at an big arch office, but teaching on the side at 2 schools. i like teaching much better than the corporate world. eventually i'd like to get into a university with an arch school and do research/teach on 3d stuff. anyone out there have this sort of interest?
  8. we have just switched our Viz 4 license to network license from the previous stand-alone license. the problem is that our RPC 3 does not work at all since they are tied to the stand-alone license. the only way to work around this is too switch to a stand-alone license everytime we want to use the RPCs. has anyone encountered this? is their a way to use RPCs with Viz on a network license?
  9. i'm not really animating. i'm rendering 7 different types of views. the designer wants to make sure that they are all 2-point perspectives. so for some of the views, i have to add a camera-correction modifier. which then means i physically have to be here to render the different cameras.
  10. how do i animate a camera-correction modifier? i have 7 images key-framed on one camera, but 3 of the images needs the camera correction modifier to straighten out the vertical lines. i want to be able to render all the images in one stroke with one camers. another question: how do i render multiple cameras in one pass without key-framing?
  11. cult 3D is excellent. i took a rendering of a int auditorium, baked most of the textures individualyy and created a 3D /intranet-website. Within the website I am able to move things around and add urls to objects. It is literally like quake and it was easy and fast to do.
  12. how much better is the advaced vray vs. basic?

    vray interior

has anyone done a true enclosed rendering with vray? i get great results with exterior and int/ext images. but when i try to use it for an auditorium rendering, it gets a bit messy. am i suppose to use the vray lights or standard lights?

    vray demo vs full

is the full v-ray version much faster than the demo version?
  15. after you do a radiosity solution, u can add standard lights to fill some area that are too dark. so it's ok to mix it up a little.
