  1. Go for it! I'd love to see more stuff like that on this site. I can't speak for Jeff or the rest of the community though. Tamas Medve, from MIR, posts his concept art stuff on this site so can't see why you shouldn't! Refreshing!
  2. The Itoo website, has lots of available resources.
  3. It'll be interesting to see what the final outcome of this exercise will be! Thanks a lot for doing what most of us are either too lazy or tight to do!
  4. Your fictitious client is going to be pissed....
  5. Just out of interest, why aren't you a fan of Max? We have this discussion in our office a lot but can't justify integrating a completely new workflow for marginal differences.
  6. I'm not convinced by their testimonials either...When you reverse image search Charles Jones, an apparent real estate agent on their site, you get a Mexican Comedian who's actual name is Paul Rodriguez
  7. Yeah, I understand that. I bought all three tutorials on a sale actually. Might be worth contacting him direct on Facebook/his website to see if he can offer a student discount. He's pretty chilled like that. Check out his youtube too as some of is free to watch. That'll give you a flavour as to whether you should actually buy his material in the future.
  8. Grant Warwicks 3DS max tutorials and Vray are quite informative. His initial ones are outdated (slightly with regards to the new vray updates) but it's still very useful to know. He updates semi-regularly so it's not like there's a dead end to his stuff. He doesn't cover architecture but everything he talks about I've found to be applicable in some way or another. http://masteringcgi.com.au/
  9. I don't have any real input other than what others are saying but this article is great to read, if you've not already seen it. https://jobs.ronenbekerman.com/archviz-biz-norm-li-introduction/
  10. Backdrop treeline/bushes cutouts with clean alphas are sometimes useful for us. Usually for covering small areas in images that our 3D trees didn't mask. That and what is being said above about foreground trees.
  11. This may not be relevant but I always make sure the Environment Map under 'Environment and Effects' has been copied over to the GI Environment slot and the Reflection/refraction Environment slot in the Vray settings. Additionally that the map under Environment and Effects is unticked. This issue is specifically for halos around objects that are against the background.
  12. I suppose you pay for what you get? Some freelancers work can be terrible. It's also easier to have a working relationship with visualisation practices closer to home. Wonder if that'll always be the case though!
  13. This may be a solution. Open up a new 3ds max file and check your unit set up. You need to change your System Unit Setup to feet, (1unit - 1.0 feet) but then make sure your display unit scale is in whatever unit you work in. Make sure the above is done fresh, and not after you've imported the model. Hope this worked. It did for me a few weeks back when working with Revit. Like you say, working with a direct revit link can be painfully slow. *edit: Worth noting that the above was a solution for UVW map scale's working incorrectly, but it also fixed my scale issues
  14. Hi All, I work for an Arch Viz practice that has a project coming in soon where the client's sending over Revit models for which we intend on rendering with Vray in Max. This is a question for those who have working knowledge in Revit as I'd love to pre-empt potential issues when translating from Revit to Max. So that in mind, what issues have other found when working with Revit to Max? When considering workflow - how have people found it compared to their usual methods? (i.e. for us - Historically we model in AutoCAD). I'm expecting to adopt a stronger relationship with our client's CAD technicians to assure they send us correct information - however at this point I need to invest a lot of time in figuring out exactly what is it we'd need from Revit i.e. .RVT and FBX files. Any input would be greatly appreciated and apologies if the topic has been discussed before - I had a look! Greg
