  1. Hi everyone.. im trying to make this effect in which the light reacts to an audio file, in a similar way way to the audio controller effect but with lights! im leaving this video as an example, its from a band called meshuggah, its pretty heavy stuff so watch your ears! but pay attention to how the lights turn on and off with the rythm.. thats what im trying to emulate. any suggestions? thanks!! D.

EDIT: 06/04 i tried using the scanline and mental ray renderers and they both worked.. so i guess it must be a Vray thing... still looking for a sollution.. hi everyone, im having this issue in panorama exporter in which the viewer renders a black screen.. i looked around the web and this forum for an explanation but i havent found much about it.. one user suggested to set adv lighting off? another suggested reset render settings? didnt understant any of them.. I used spherical panorama camera with override fov (360) and vertical fov 180, the renderer is vray 3.4 on 3dsmax 2017 64bits any advices?, thanks. D.

    thank you.. yes indeed im using a lot of custom values because i,ve been doing trial/error for the past few days.. i started using vray only recently.. all this time been doing fine with mental ray but i wanted to give vray a shot.. so far i like it.. and i think its faster than MR.. but im messing around with the values from what i read in the chaos group docs.. one question: i noticed that by using some of the custom values such as different camera settings, different AA filters and diferent sampling values i get a more "realistic" image than using default settings.. but you say that i should use them (default). is it possible to reach a decent level of realism with default settings?

    vray light mat

    Hi evryone.. im having this trouble with a vraylightmat in which the light renders with some strong aliasing.. i read the chaos group guide and followed the instructions to solve the problem but it didnt work! the light source is the rectangle on the roof, and also there´s a dome light in the scene.. here´s the image: as the guide says: i have to use direct illumination + GI and IR: HSphS: 100, Interp.S: 40. here are the settings i used for the render, its vray 3.4 in 3dsmax 2017: any ideas/suggestions? thanks! D.

Hi everyone.... im having trouble placing a sky image on my scene.. im placing it according to a tutorial that i saw around the net in which you use a standard skylight with a sky image map, and a gamma&gain map for the environment with the same sky as submap and as i followed the instructions, this was the result: it renders only a small portion of the sky ( the file is 10000x6000). Then i tried correcting it by changing the tiling values in the submap of the gamma&gain, and this was the result: i tried lots of differents tiling values but i cant find to place it in the right position... any advice? thanks! Hi everyone.. im having trouble with some strange light circles in my render on 3dsmax 2016. im using mental ray with FG and GI, a daylight system with a mr sun set on manual, mr sky portal and some free lights... so far ive tried different things but i cant get it done... turned off the mr sun increased the FG quality and more spots appeared(when in draft mode, i had two spots, in low mode like twenty..) all materials are arch&design and they have 64 glossy samples, with ambient occlusion at 64 samples.. also, yesterday i tried something and in order to see the results faster i rendered in the lowest resolution(320x240), and they disappeared... [ATTACH=CONFIG]55219[/ATTACH] and now i set the FG to high and there are thousands of them........ any suggestions??? thanks!

  8. thank you for replying, i did several test using different values in FG but nothing changed! now i tried with the sampling and i got it working... thanks for your guidance.. ps:as you recommended, i also read the 3dsmax help and found it very helpful! D.

Hi everyone, im new here.. ive been using 3dsmax for a while and im trying to learn to render some interiors.. right now im having this problem, i get grainy shadows and reflections when rendering using mental ray... here are the settings i used so far.. i cant seem to find the answer in other posts for ive tried a few of the sollutions posted but nothing seems to work for me.. can anyone help me? thanks!!! Daniel
