  1. hi everyone I have been trying out the new Revit 2010 for the past few days and found it reasonably straight forward except custom families.. I came across this tutorial abt making custom curtain panels, http://autodesk-revit.blogspot.com/2008/09/concrete-cladding-panels-as-curtain.html and encountered some problems, that I couldn't find an option to flip the panels as the author has done. I have assigned double-horizontal controls in my custom wall panel family but it doens't seem to be effective once I load it into a project. Any suggestions?
  2. yes Brian, it was the problem with my modelling, the glass became transparent after I face extruded the geometry and applied shell. thanks.
  3. Hi, I've been playing with this mat but couldn't get it right. As you could probably see in the attached img, some of the glass panels along the handrails are acting as if they were mirrors. (but the same material worked fine for the roof and shopfront windows and they are transparent) It is just a standard glass material that I'm having.. Diffuse: black, fresnel reflections checked Reflect: gray almost white Refraction: white, affect shadow/alpha checked can anyone tell what's wrong? Thx.
  4. thx Dave that did solve the problem; also would know if vray lights are needed for an interior scene like this? or do I just use the photometrics as if they were real light fixtures?
  5. hi people, I've been trying to use just a vray sun and physical cam to lit up this interior scene, but I get the problem of those black solid lines around the places where the sun light strikes. I have Gamma set to 2.2 Affect colors / Material Editors ticked Vray frame buffer Adaptive QMC / Catmull-Rom adp. QMC sampler: min 3 / max 6, thresh 0.005 GI: Irr. map and QMC both 1.0 Irradiance map: min -3 / max 0, HSph 70 and Interp 40 Environment: GI 1.0 Color mapping: HSV dark multiplier 2.0, 1.0, 1.0 (boxes unchecked) sun parameters: default cam setting: ISO 200 and 1/30s @ f8 would it be the position of my sun thats causing the problem?
  6. hi Arnold, so play with the FOV value in the spherical camera option is the way to go? what value should I use? to get an image that would work well for reflection. thx.
  7. hi Christopher, I am also trying to do some thing similar here, but I'm not sure how to do a full spherical image straight out of vray. I tried to set the camera to Sperical in render settings, but the image doesn't come out as what I thought it would be. should I check the override FOV option and play with the value?
  8. hi Dean, auto keying actually works, but then the intensity is being changed between frame-0 to frame-100... when I use the set key mode, and open the curve editor for a light. I can't see a graph that I can drag up and down in the "multiplier" part.
  9. hi all, I know how to move objects/lights around and adjust its intensity when I do my animation with auto key mode, but the same procudure I used to move objects around with Set key mode, doesn't seem to be working when i try to change the intensity of my light (wether its photometric or vray light). say there's 100 frames, and I want the intensity to go from 100~1500cd, from frame 70~frame 100. can anyone show me how to set this up or guide me to a tutorial for this kind of stuff? thx.
  10. sorry for the vray version problem. removing the post here:) thx for the tips alex and steve.
  11. thx very much for the help and the test file, its working now. i just got to play with it a bit more i guess, yea Rick i will know where to go for vray problems next time:D
  12. http://caad.asro.kuleuven.ac.be/manuals/VIZ3/VRay/index_en.html this is the tutorial i was trying to follow..but yea, didn't make it seems they are not using the GI system and have a light source set up outsdide the room, just wondering what kind of light would it be? might give this a try again.
  13. now I've deleted all lightings in the scene and just use the GI overrides, multiplier set to 8 (and turned off the radiosity) and the render turn out to be blank with a light gray color, can't see a thing in the scene. I think the lighting provided by the GI works, because its all black when i set the multipler to 1.. its just not showing any objects or shadow. thx for the replies guys.
  14. hi everyone, I've just downloaded VRay free 1.09.03n and installed on VIZ2005 today. just to test out, i created a simple interior scene with a target spot light. and the render turn out to be black, can't see a thing.. then i replace the spot light with a skylight, and got this error message: UNHANDLED EXCEPTION: Irradiance map thread Last marker is at globillummap.cpp, line 1750: (GlobalIllumLightDesc::Illuminate() i've attached some screenshot of my settings, hope someone can help me out. thx!!
