  1. Hello CG community, I have a question and I really hope you can give me any guidance. I have 5 computers available to create a rendering network to render an animation. The only problem, I have one VRAY license for one workstation. How does the set up work in my situation - do I really have to buy extra licenses for each rendering computer? I heard from one 3d designer that the nodes don't have to have a monitor even, it can render and save images to the set location and vray can be installed without actual purchase. I am not sure if it is really true. Please kindly advice. Thank you very much! PS: those computers have installed 3d Max 2018 and had VRAY 3.6 on each. But the licenses were not extended.
  2. Hello, I am working on the big site scene that will be a part an animation in the end. It is basically a forest. I need to create a nice juicy green background. Do I go for 2D trees or I do 3d trees with Forest Pack? I tried 2D trees, looks not really nice, maybe i did something not right. The part of animation will be a walk through the trees, so it needs to look nice but don't kill my machine. I really don't know what approach to go with.
  3. thank you for the suggestion. I helped. I appreciate it.
  4. Thank you, I will try to do that. Regarding denoiser - it worked on single frame but when i rendered sequence, it rendered all black. Maybe I did not do it correctly. I will try again. I might also apply smart blur in PP, will check how it looks. Thank you again
  5. Hi All, The client requested an animation. Total 450 frames which is ok. It is a shorty. The scene is pretty complex - perforated metal panels, lots of fritted glass and all this lighten up with HDRI lighting, dusk/sunset and interior lighting. No moving objects. I had tried multiple options, and still trying to optimize the settings how to make it time efficient but not very noisy at the same time. I tried progressive and bucket. But with GI....I am still trying BF and IM. I read on forums that IM will give the flickering if you render animation. But honestly I like how the rendered time per frame vs image quality (I am testing one frame now only). It is less noisy. But with BF it is more detailed but so much time!!! so no no no! I have a feeling I am doing something wrong....but I can't figure out what it is. Whatever might look good, takes forever to render. And if the time per image is acceptable - it looks like crap and very noisy.
  6. Update: it is just weird! After I tried everything, it didn't work....but guess what. It fixed itself after 2 weeks. I have no words.
  7. I started to hate BB.....I was wondering if there is any BB alternative?
  8. Update: I had tried to send another file, it went through. Also I tried to isolate and resave selected elements from this file. It worked as well. But the whole file - no such luck Trying to reinstall Backburner and see if this works. I guess the final step will be to dissect the file....
  9. Thank you very much, I will try to comb this through as you suggested.
  10. Hi All, I keep getting the issues with Backburner. Everytime I try to send a job to the network, it takes very much time and Manager starts to say in strange language. I thought it might be file because it is very big. So i tried to sent just a piece of it. Same thing. Please see attached, this is the screen shot of the Backburner Manager. Did anyone have a similar issue? If so, what would be a reason for this.
  11. Sure! Please see attached
  12. Good day all, So, i have a project for a client that requires the heavy details. The wall panels are made of very detailed Hindu wood carvings. It will be rendered closed up so i shall be tricky to fake it. How would you approach it - to work on the texture map with displacement and bumps or populate it with actual 3D models. I was thinking for the close up view the 3d modeled wall is a must...but if it is pretty possible to fake it using texture map, it would be so timesaver! Did anyone have something similar? Any advice or experience would be very helpful. Many thanks
  13. Hi Nigel, I had similar issue with the Viewport but in 2018 version. After I installed the latest service pack for this version the issue disappeared.
