  1. Here is what my experience is... I built a Ryzen 1700x 16 gb ram PC with gtx 1080ti.... but I realized 1080ti is overkill for what I do... Vray mainly has two modes of operations, Adv and RT. Vray RT do uses CUDA but has many limitation on rendering features and once you are used to with Adv you won't likely switch to RT mode. The Adv mode, on the other hand, is way to go mode for me for its features but it doesn't use even 5% of gpu power! Adv mode renders best and eats up 100% of my 8 Core cpu and brings 16 GB ram to its knees... So my suggestion is, Vray (most of the multimedia softwares for that matter) is yet not optimized to use full potentials of GPU, you need a CPU with as much core and speed as you can afford and 32 GB ram is best.
  2. This post is basically on behalf of my wife. She doesn't have any traditional qualification on architecture or design, but being a stay-at-home wife she picked up interest learning 3Ds Max/Vray/AutoCAD/Photoshop and sketch up. She learned really well in last 2 years and created some nice photorealistic render of interior/exterior...... I want her to go ahead and take it more seriously to make a freelancing career out of it as a Arch Visualizer. So could you guys please suggest me after those softwares what else should she learn? If you guys are master in multiple software in which order did you prepare yourself? There are so many software out there and many companies look for experience in 7-8 softwares... Revit, UE4, Lumino, Blender, Illustrator, solid works, Maya, Zbrush, Rhino and so on... we are kind of lost making decision! Thanks!
  3. If you just need a pc to practice and experiment 3dsMax for short time then rather than buying a whole new pc, I would rent a fully loaded PC and just install the software I need, that would save me from hassle of building a one if you do not intend to use for longer.
  4. Hey there... I was pretty much in the same boat. I recently bought a 1080ti and wanted vray to utilize the cuda power of it, but later realized that, 1) Vray Adv doesn't support CUDA but renders everything fine (3ds max 2015 with forest pack) 2) Vray RT on the other hand does support CUDA but it messing up the rendered o/p and creating grainy noisy images.. How did you fix that? How can I use cuda and get the same quality of render?
