  1. Hi guys, Since there is a big shortage in laptops in my country (Croatia) I have looked for these in Germany that Nikolaos suggested. I have found this Lenovo laptop which i like: Buy Lenovo ThinkPad P17 G2 20YU000GGE - mynotebook.de , i am just not sure if NVIDIA RTX A3000 with 6GB of RAM is enough for smooth viewport when i work with large models in 3dsMax (around 15.000.000 - 40.000.000 verts/polys). Is maybe A4000 better option or not?
  2. Hi Nikolaos, Thanks for the reply, you helped me 3 years ago pick a desktop for work. I usually don't like gaming laptops but this HP omen looks good, i do need a 17'' screen, 15'' is just too small. GPU looks like an overkill but it's fine. Only thing i do need is a numpad on a keyboard but that's not such a minus.
  3. Hi to all, I am an architect currently using old Dell Precision laptop M6700 ( i7-3740QM CPU @ 2.70GHz, 4 cores / 8 threads, 24GB RAM, NVIDIA Quadro K4000M 4GB GDDR5, Samsung 850 EVO 250GB + WD Blue 1TB), at work i have a desktop (i9-7920x, Gigabyte GTX 1070Ti Windforce 8GB GDDR5, 4 x 8 DDR4 2933Mhz RAM, Samsung 850 EVO 500 GB + WD black 2 TB). I am mailny using Autocad Architecture for drawings and basic modeling and 3ds Max for detailed modeling and Vray for rendering. Desktop at work is working great but my laptop stutters a lot when i am modelling larger CAD drawings (large apartment buildings etc.) especially in wireframe view and sometimes 3ds MAX crashes when the file goes above 1GB of size. I am looking to upgrade my laptop to maybe a new DELL Precision 7760 Mobile Workstation but i am not sure if it is the best option. If i am correct my main requirements are in this order: processor with the fastest single core speed for flawless modelling as much cores as i can get for faster rendering at least 32 GB RAM GPU no idea which one i need My budget is up to 3000€. From the DELL configurator (https://www.dell.com/en-us/work/shop/dell-laptops-and-notebooks/new-precision-7760-workstation/spd/precision-17-7760-laptop/xctop776017us_vp?view=configurations)i have options for : i7-11850H (8 Core, 24MB Cache, 2.50GHz to 4.80GHz, i9-11950H (8 Core, 24MB Cache, 2.60GHz to 5.00GHz or Intel Xeon Processor W-11855M (6 Core, 18MB Cache, 3.20GHz to 4.90GHz). The GPU range is NVIDIA RTX A3000 w/6 GB GDDR6 or NVIDIA RTX A4000 w/8 GB GDDR6. Is the Precision line the best option or are there better ones for the same price?
  4. Hi Elvis, In the end I got this system because, as you know, in Croatia it is a bit harder to find high end parts so you have to go with what they have, and the prices are a lot higher than in Germany, US etc. CPU: Intel - Core i9-7920x AIO: NZXT - Kraken X62 MOTHERBOARD: MSI X299 Raider RAM: Kingston HyperX Predator RGB 32GB (4x8 2933Mhz) SSD: Samsung - 970 EVO 500GB M.2-2280 HDD: Western Digital - BLACK SERIES 2TB 3.5" GPU: Gigabyte GTX 1070Ti Windforce 8GB GDDR5 CASE: NZXT H700 POWER SUPPLY: Corsair HX850 850W 80+ Platinum MONITORS: 2x DELL P2418D 2K IPS Total price: around 4200€ in Croatia I tested one scene in 3dsmax with 14 mil polys and 14 mil verts, the file is 1.35 GB in size. On my laptop which has Quadro K4000M with 4GB RAM, the FPS was 1.5-3-3 in Wireframe which was almost unusable, 13 FPS in shaded and 10 FPS in Realistic viewport. On my new rig the FPS in Wireframe is 7-25 which is a huge difference since i can normaly rotate the model, 10-30 FPS in shaded and 8-20 FPS in Realistic.
  5. That is not at all a conclusion to this topic, at least for the apps I am using.
  6. Hi Nikolaos, thank you for the reply. Just one more question, do you think that 1070ti will be also enough for Autocad or Revit viewport for 3D modeling. Also never heard of iiyama monitors but I'll certanly look into them since you have recommended it.
  7. Hi everyone, I'm an architect doing all my drawings and basic modelling in Autocad Architecture and main modeling and rendering in 3dsmax 2014 with Vray (Cpu rendering) and some Photoshop post production. I currently work on my Dell Precison M6700 laptop but i need a workstation for work and my boss asked me to put a configuration for 3000 -3500€ (I'm in Croatia so the prices are a bit higher than in the US). My laptop is working ok but i have stuttering sometimes with larger models (over 10 million polys and verts) in shaded with edges viewport. My main question is, is this configuration good and which GPU is best for these programs Quadro or GTX beacuse internet is full of these discusions but I cannot find the final answer, i need the best GPU for large model viewport performance, in Autocad Arch. and especially 3dsmax. CPU: Intel - Core i7-7820X AIO: NZXT - Kraken X62 MOTHERBOARD: Asus - ROG STRIX X299-XE GAMING RAM: Corsair - Vengeance LPX 64GB (8 x 8GB) DDR4-2666 SSD: Samsung - 960 EVO 500GB M.2-2280 HDD: Western Digital - BLACK SERIES 2TB 3.5" GPU: Asus - GeForce GTX 1080 8GB ROG STRIX Video Card OR Quadro P4000 CASE: Phanteks - Enthoo Pro POWER SUPPLY: EVGA - SuperNOVA G3 750W 80+ Gold MONITOR: Dell - U2417H 24.0"
