  1. Thanks, I also had to adjust the horizontal as well. That is nice to know about the camera info in sketchup. Thanks again.
  2. Is there no way to have the camera match the view in Sketchup once imported in Max? I want to keep the sketchup cameras in my 3ds max scene. Everytime I export as .3ds with the cameras, the camera comes into max crooked. I figure this has something to do with the perspective in SU not being compatible to Max. Anybody have any suggestions? -Brian
  3. Hello all, thanks for the replies and crits. Very helpful from everyone. crazy homeless guy: i experimented with doing the glass of couple of different ways and more reflected seemed to work best. about the composition rule of thirds is a great technique and i tried to stay close to this on the first lighthouse image i made, then went away from showing extra information i didn't need on this image like the rocks. wda: lol, that dust storm was crazy, looked like a different world outside eric: i totally agree with you on the pickets, and getting a more used feel to the building jvlive: i awaiting that movie also. there is another thread i made for my first image with this model http://www.cgarchitect.com/vb/21062-thomas-point-shoal-lh.html
  4. I took some time to make adjustments to my original lighthouse piece, and made a new image. Model made in max, and rendered with VRAY, post work done in Photoshop. C&C welcome. -Brian
  5. Hello, this is my latest work submitted for a lighthouse competition. The scene was modeled and textured in max, and rendered with Vray. Post work done with Photoshop. -Brian
  6. Hey David, renders look nice, hows it goin? I've seen some amazing stuff done with VRay, and heard it is quite easy to set up a nice gi render. -Brian
  7. very cool, I think the stone on the building is a bit bright and making it stand out so much, but maybe that is your intention. did you take several refernce pics to build this scene? nice work
  8. mskin, thanks for the reply, I am using ambient light, along with GI, I tried to stay close to the reference photo I used, which had that very blown out sunlight from the window. Everything is modeled except the tree in the window which is a photo.
  9. Here is a new image I just finished. Everything built, textured and lit in 3ds Max. Render with FinalRender, and mental ray for occlusion pass. Then brought into PS for a bit of retouching. Crits and comments would be much appreciated.
