  1. I work in blender, but I use a plugin called Archipack for creating a lot of my windows and doors -- at least giving me a starting point Tim West Rim Digital Media
  2. Hi Guys: IM in a little different situation -- I am trying to find a spot as a visualizer -- I work in blender -- and mostly do homes, I'd really like to work remote (Im stuck home with covid this week) but if I could find a local studio looking for a visualizer, I'd be open to that as well -- I replied to this thread mostly b/c I could use a few friends to talk to (no, I wont bug guys to help me get a job) Tim West Rim Digital Media
  3. Really awesome work -- Id love to live in that apartment! The only critique that I have is that the video gets really dark in some spots, which looks kinda odd This is exactly what I wish to learn to do, and I can see I have a ways to go ! Nice work TIM
  4. absolutely go windows 10 -- windows 7 is EOL and now unsupported DO NOT tempt that particular problem -- particularly if your business is depending on it TIM
  5. Hi Folks: I am hoping to pick up some freelance ArchViz work, and would REALLY like to get out of my CoreI3 Desktop. A couple of notes: 1. I am not doing large amounts of renders on this machine -- anything other than quick test renders - go off to sheep it for rendering 2. I will be doing fairly large .blend files, with 4k to 8k textures 3. I work in cycles, and in UE4, I do not use EEVEE as it is a waste of time 4. I would like big memory (probably 32 -64 gigs 5. I'd like a 256gb to 500gb SSD for boot and software 6. Data storage would be on a 2 - 3 TB hdd 7. I need a minimum of 3 screen outputs, 4 would be preferable I realize that there are really high end graphics cards and processors out there, but really I dont need them, nor can I afford them. Id really like to keep this to around 1000USD. Thanks TIM
  6. Studio/Institution: West Rim Digital Media, Lester Ohio Genre: Residential Interior Software: Blender 2.8 Website: http://https://taholmes160.artstation.com/ Description: Hello Folks: This is a kitchen project that I have been working on for some time. Its modeled after 2 things I saw, the first is the design of the seating area and table – I picked up on that watching an episode of Fixer Upper with Chip and JoAnna Gains. That was really the spring board for the project. I wish I could find a screen cap from that episode, but I havent been able to find one, so I am just going from memory. (theirs was much smaller). The second factor was the lights over the counters (the blue ones) I saw lights like that at a local Applebees one night and decided I had to try modeling them. This is still in progress, but I am looking for some serious critiques. Its really my first foray into the “Modern” kitchen with whites and blacks and greys etc, as I am typically a log cabin modeler and have very heavy use of woods and earth tones. Some of it has turned out looking really good, other parts, I am not so happy with – the composition of the shot from by the sliding glass door is one I really dont like, as well some of the walls and counters seem a bit bare, so I need some suggestions of how to handle that. Additionally, if you see something wrong, it would be really helpful if you could give me some pointers on HOW to fix it – I’m still very much a learner, and want to get better, but in some cases dont know how.! I have seen some projects that have a rendered wireframe shot as well, I dont know yet how to do that, so I’ll be looking (any suggestions appreciated) I have all my stage (step) files as well, and can show you anything you want. Please let me know what will make it easier and more useful to critique. One last request, if you know of any good sites for critiques I would appreciate links, so far I have BlenderArtists, Art Station, and CGArchitect. Thanks for the input

  10. Studio/Institution: West Rim Digital Media, Lester Ohio Client: Not Disclosed Genre: Other Software: Blender 2.8 Website: http://https://taholmes160.artstation.com/ Description: Hi Folks: Here is a wooden chair that I did from a concept sketch for a project I work with. This particular project had a lot of work with curves that I have never done before, so I learned some things. Comments and critiques very welcome, however if possible, please suggest methods of fixing the problems that you note, so that I can learn better ways of doing things Thanks TIM
  11. Good Morning Akshay: Ive been working with blender for about a year now -- I work mostly on my own, as I only do this as a hobby right now -- I'm hoping to develop into more freelance work. I have never worked on 3dsmax, so I have no idea if blender is an alternative or not Hope you have a great day TIM
  12. Jesus: Thanks for the feedback -- I agree the lighting is rough -- I knew that when I posted, I need to work on that over the next couple sessions. The bed can be changed, what do you recommend? and likewise for the materials, I'd like your feeback on what needs to change / how to change it Thanks TIM
  13. Studio/Institution: West Rim Digital Media, Lester Ohio Client: None, Learning Project Genre: Residential Interior Software: Blender 2.8 Website: http://https://taholmes160.artstation.com/ Description: Hi Folks -- this is a very early work in progress on a guest bedroom (15 x 17) in a large (10,000+ sq/ft) log home that I am designing and drawing as a learning project. As it stands, I am not especially happy with the look, but I'm not sure what is off either. I know the lighting is terrible, and I'll be fixing that, but beyond that, really not sure. Right now the lighting is just what the outside HDRI is contributing, its rendered in EEVEE in blender 2.8 Thanks TIM
  14. Hi Thomas, I appreciate your candor and your input. I'll continue to work to perfect my craft. Tim
  15. Eduardas: Quite true, I would rank my skills at the low end of medium at this point, but I think improving. Here are a couple samples from a project that I am currently working on Im not looking to get rich (at least at first) on this, but adding a bit to the bank account would be nice Tim
