  1. This is what they says: "UDK is Unreal Engine 3 – the complete professional development framework. All the tools you need to create great games, advanced visualizations and detailed 3D simulations. The best tools in the industry are in your hands." I did not get enough time to look through the detail features, but its "Unreal Engine", one of the best out there. http://www.udk.com/
  2. Try MarlinStudio, they have 2d images with alpha map or 3d model. My personal favorite is Evermotion, costly but best quality.
  3. thanks justin hunt, but i m not planing to study in Australia. I found 2 more program: 06. Pennsylvania state university - Master of architecture 07. Mississippi state university - Master of science in architecture any one know anything about these program please inform me.
  4. i can't agree with you. arcviz is another profession just like architecture, landscape architecture, urban design. it not only require some skills but also artistic quality. as long as i know there was a time when art/architecture were not taught in schools, they were learned by working with professionals. even landscape architecture, urban design, interior design were not separate profession. but in time they came out as branches, why not arcviz
  5. I found 2 more program, 04. Cornell University - Master of Science 05. Texas Tech University - Master of Science Right, some programs are more film oriented and some are game, there are very few programs really focused on architectural visualization i did not expect this situation.
  6. Hi, I completed my B.Arch in June, 2008. Now I am working in a consultancy firm. I started architectural visualization as part of the design process, it was like a hobby. But now I become a professional visualization artist. Most of the time in my office i am working on modeling and rendering rather than design or drawing. I also started working as freelancer (working after office time). I learned 3ds max & Vray by myself (online tutorials and help files). Now I want to build my career in this field. I want to be a professional. I need some academic background. So I decided to graduate in this field. I searched many universities in USA, but I found very few architectural visualization program. Here is the list: 01. Texas A and M university - Master of science in visualization science 02. University of Southern Mississippi - Architecture & Construction visualization 03. Catholic University of America - Master of architectural studies So I need some advice and guidelines, may be there are many other programs in this field in USA.
  7. i m always interested in new products........specially realtime.....but i have some easy nd stupid questions............ 01. as this is concerning about architectural visualization........ scale is an important factor..........for example i m using metric system for modeling in 3ds max........or some one using imperial system........what type of unit system EC support........? 02. I still largely depend on light maps........i found many engines featuring dynamic light/shadow............but practically they can not be used on the whole scene, only on some moving objects..........some engines offer some kind of environment system but its still very poor comparing light maps baked from v-ray (except: cry engine/dunia engine)..........does EC have this type of environment/weather system?..............i want 2 export both the base map nd baked map with 2 different map channel, is it possible? can EC combine the base map with the light map? 03. i m currently using 3ds max 2009........can i import 2009 models? 04. i often use revit models........does EC support revit models..........though revit models r unnecessarily heavy for visualization purpose............ 05. does EC publish executable file directly (like ouest3d) or need to use a compiler such as visual c++ (like virtools)
  8. you can switch to flash. I always prefer flash instead of quick time. I use pano2vr for producing panorama vr
  9. i don't know when this will be available in market.
  10. Gocubic is very easy to use but it can not make hotspots linking. Pano2QTVR 1.6 works fine, it can make hotspots in ouicktime format. it can also convert cubic faces to Equirectangular Projection. But I dont have any idea how to run cubicvr, there is no .exe file at all. can you explain me how to use it.
  11. Hi

First of all sorry for the late response.

Unfortunately the site is in it`s downhill (from my point of view) but the experience is important and a new one will emerge. This time it will be entirely my initiative.

A few years before the site I had my first experience with interactive 3D in Director (at that time Macromedia) and I`ve choose this product because I had some multimedia productions made with it.

    What you need to know:

    1. Export into w3d is very well documented and with many choices for 3D Software

1.1. 3DS Max from version 3 to the latest, some of them might need an update from the Autodesk site

1.2. be careful at naming objects, materials, groups etc – no duplicates or you `ll have export errors

1.3. not all types of materials are supported, unfortunately no bumps and other goodies – use blinn materials

1.4. transparency supported with 32 bit (RGB + alpha channel) PNG file

    1.5. group the animations

1.6. use the advanced exporter utilities for analyzing, compression ratio, testing, preview and check for errors

1.7. about baked textures you have to be careful with them - especially the size and distribution on elements

    2. Authoring with Director

2.1. You need a bit of knowledge of Director and Lingo programming

2.2. ChromeLib is a powerfull add-on for 3D in Director

2.3. You will need a bit of programming (I can give you the code which needs some minor tweaks which I can explain) for collision detection and external resources if you need (like textures)

2.4. Director it`s good for combining all sorts of media (2D, flash, images, audio, video, etc.) even in large quantities

2.5. good options for streaming media

Now the dark side of the moon:

    - Director 11 has support for DirectX9 but not so efficient

    - not enough tools for a designer

    - the upgrade from Director MX 2004 to version 11 which took 4 years of development is not by far so worthy (in part DirectX9, unicode, Vista and latest MacOs suport)

From my point of view Director 11 is a huge disappointment because the entire community was expecting a huge leap after so many years, but it seems like Adobe it stretched a bit too far (even with some other products). It remains to see if the next version it will come back in force.

At this moment the developing team for Director is in Bangalore.

For my next project I`m searching for some candidates who might replace Director in my pipeline.

If you need any help feel free to contact me mvitega@yahoo.com.

    Best regards

    Mihai

  12. Hi,

I just see your popwebcity, its very impresive. You have good experience with adobe director, so I decided to write a massage to you. I have few questions

What is the work flow to produce a interactive architectural visualization for web?

Is director has a built in engine, or I have to use a third party engine.

I work with 3D Max, Is adobe director fully support max format? Acrobat 3D don't support .max files, it support .3ds files. Does it support baked texture?

How much codding it requres for developing a project like popwebcity?

  13. I have made a interactive model of the glass house. I used Virtools engine, 3D max for modeling, V-ray for rendering. Here is the link The Glass House I am expecting some comments on this.
  14. Dear friends, Most of you never heard of Pezo Von Ellrichshausen. But now you will love the works of this master mind. One of his great works is Poli house. I am very happy to say that I managed to develop a virtual tour of this creative design. I am sure you will be interested to know more about this architect. If you are interested to explore this design, here is the link Poli House
  15. The Church of Light (1989), designed by Japanese architect Tadao Ando, is a building imbibed with the power of space and light. Located in the quiet suburb of Ibaraki, Osaka, Japan, it is an addition to an earlier wood structure. The minimal budget resulted in a building in which all was eliminated save for simple, unadorned structure. This, however, is what makes the space so sacred and powerful, combining only the basic architectural elements of floor, wall, and ceiling, with few openings. Now a virtual tour is available in ArcViz
