  1. I read a few online examples of reports and they all say the same thing, these panels are less reflective than tarmac and due to their installation angles are rarely capable of causing glare to residential users. I discussed it all with my client who has discussed it with the planners and he feels this may be an example of consultants trying to push inappropriate studies on new developments to make a few quid for themselves. We've decided to go for a standard photo montage and abandon the glare study.
  2. Thanks Stuart, I'll register for that site and see what it looks like.
  3. I've been asked by a client that I do a lot of photo montage work for if I could do a glint and glare study for a solar farm. The montage side is easy enough but the critical side, the glare study is beyond Max, I've been looking at examples of studies online but can't find any clue what software packages were used. I imagined it may be a Revit kind of thing and I know ecotect can do shadows and reflections but can't find any examples of an output that matches Glint and Glare asessments I've seen online. Anyone any ideas?
  4. yeah Philip that's the sort of thing i mean although it'll be produced in Max not Autocad. I guess there shouldn't be a difference in pricing, i just get uncomfortable putting large invoices in for basic block models used in this kind of thing.
  5. yeah, i have more confidence billing clients for photo realistic work as i know it looks like it's worth the money but with these things the models are fairly crude and the final images are diagramatic. Also, i've only ever billed for stills in the past, not too confident on animations.
  6. i have a client looking for one, easy enough to do but i've never priced for one before. Does anyone (uk preferably) have any experience of paying for or being paid for doing these kind of things? i would really appreciate a rough ball park figure to aim for. Thanks.
  7. sorry i should have made it clear, i can see thumbnails of normal files just not of max files, all i get is a big, thumbnail sized icon rather than a preview of the file contents.
  8. i seem to have that checked already, can you view Max files as thumbnails in windows? i mean, is this a general windows problem or is a specific issue with my set up?
  9. i'm running max 2010 on win 7, 64 bit but i can't view file thumnails, i had a script that fixed this in vista but it isn't workiing for win 7, does anyone know a fix for this?
  10. They can be a bit dodgy when you start to get close so i was thinking of just grabbing some low poly models from here http://www.doschdesign.com/products/3d/Lo-Poly_Cars_V1-2.html and was wondering if anyone has experience of them or any better alternatives?
  11. if i have several elements in vray (z pass, atmosphere etc) and i set it to auto save it'll only save the render, not the elements. the standard frame buffer will save the individual elements but i prefer using the VFB. how can i gat the VFB to save out the seperate render elements automatically?
