  1. Hi I am a forth year student of architecture and at our university presentation is key! same in the real world! I used archicad and lightworks up until the end of my third year and then made the switch to c4d because it was far better for rendering. After 5 months with AR I switched to vray! No looking back, after reading the manual and a few example scenes I think vray is the best especially with c4d. Its so easy to produce nice images! I would suggest you just stick at it and ask for help mate, its the only way anyone gets any better. There are loads of people out there willing to help! Your lighting issues may have something to do with your materials and your vray camera (Try lowering the film ISO in the physical camera) Just keep at it. theres plenty of people willing to help best regards Tom
  2. Does anyone know if you can chamfer floor slabs or walls on the top and bottom plane? I know you can chamfer the edges in plan but is it possible in archi to chamfer the wall where the vertical plane meets either to top or bottom ridge? e.g. modeling work tops of a kitchen Kind regards Tom
  3. C4d 11 is the new version of C4D. The arch version is the same but you get some architectural materials within the library. The new versions of c4d 11 have the advanced render 3. I have not really used it much, only in the demo. We purchased vray for c4d at work and I now use that with c4d 10.5. I would suggest looking at vray. After a quick read of the manual you will soon start producing nice renders with vray.
  4. Yea I am new, I have been using cinema 4d for about 6 months. I do very little modeling using cinema, mostly rendering. I use archicad to model as this is the software we use at work. Thanks for all your advice. I will read up on optimize function and the phong tag. I presume it a case of attaching a phong tag or something then. Thanks again Tom
  5. It is just a 3ds file. Sorry what is "all polygon seperated"? I have tried droping the model into a hyper nurb and that helped allot but made orbiting the model extremely slow. thanks tom
  6. Hi I am currently creating a render of a small loft conversion. I have downloaded this furniture but for some reason the model itself is not smooth. is there anyway I can get the edges smooth in c4d? I have uploaded an image to help explain. best regards Tom
  7. Oh ok, is that just one ambinet light then and the Ambient Occl turned on in the render settings? Thanks for your help Tom
  8. Yea i have used cinema 4d abit and find it really easy tp pick up but i do have problems when it comes to lighting a scene with GI. Thanks
  9. Ok ill try adding more lights to my model instead of just an infinite light. cheers
  10. Can anyone help me please. I produce my architectural models using archicad and then import into c4d. I have been using cinema for about 5months now. I often have problem with applying lighting so if anyone could offer any advice on how to light a 3d floor plan model that would be great. I have attached a image that i found on the internet as an example of the term 3d floor plan. Regards Tom
  11. BrianKitts Thanks for your post. So this plugin for archicad then. Does it mean you have to export a 3d model into a seperate rendering program such as maxwell or can the the 3d model be rendered in archicad with maxwell render in the same way in which you use the lightworks rendering engine. Granted it will more complex. thanks Tom
  12. We currently use archicad within our office but are not to happy with the rendering quality of Lightworks. We are looking at the Maxwell Render plug-in for archicad as one possible solution. Does anyone have any experience with it? I have read in the past that it is limited with the plug-in Best regards Tom
  13. Can anyone tell me where i can get hold of the Professional Render DVD for lightworks in archicad? Preferably from a supply within the UK. Kind regards Tom
  14. Does anyone know if it is possible to key in dimensions using the polygon tool? regards Tom
  15. i have sorted the animation, so thanks to all of you who tuck the time to make suggestions. I had recently purchased tutorials on c4d and it said to compress the animation as a H.264. Which rendered fine but when played as a quick time movie was much lighter. i just changed the compression to animation, which makes sense and it works fine! stupid tutorials. thank you Tom
