I have a file that I'm working with that is constantly giving me a "missing external files" error. When I go to my asset tracking menu I see about 12 images that are not associated with this project. (I think someone copied an older project to start this one.)
Is there a way to delete these files or at least find out what they are associated with in the file? When I open the "select by name" only my objects are in the scene and all but the 3 materials that I have created are default materials.
Thanks,
crw
John, I really like this rendering. I do agree with Koper that the chrome doesn't really match the scene. In the back left corner, the base of the building almost has a floating effect.
Could you tell us how you did the roof tile?
thanks,
crw
One of the main things to think about is functionality as well. You don't want to have a site that is hard to navigate or update.
Another thing to think about is making your site search engine friendly. Although full flash sites are cool, they aren't really SEO friendly. This is due to the fact that your site is completely contained in one page and the text isn't searchable by a search engine. However, you can always build a html site and include flash pieces.
Hope that helps...

Thanks for the tips guys. I realized that my environment color was a little too blue. I'm going to try brightening up the scene a bit.
@Shane: Thanks for the suggestion on the stained glass. It's actually in PS right now but I might as well model them. Same thing for the roof. That was one of my eye sores but the client was ok with it.
Thanks for the tips.
Nice work Rod. There are 2 things that stand out to me.
1. The grass is floating and you can see the base of the light fixtures under the grass plane.
2. The red car doesn't seem to match. I think it's just a texture issue.
I would be interested to see what the image looks like with Julian's suggestion.
This is an exterior that I'm almost finished with. I have had some issues with the grass but have those worked out now. Thanks for everyone's help on that...
Here are the machine specs and render time.
Core2 Quad @ 2.40GHz
4GB RAM
MAX 2008
V-Ray Adv 1.5 SP1
32 mins
Would love some C&C.
Thanks,

The fur was the problem. I was one of those people... I had 3 planes each with the distribution around 30. I've switched it to displacement and it seems to be working now. I'll have to see what happens once I go big though.
Thanks for the help everyone!
Currently I'm trying to render @ 490x270. My final will need to be much larger. I have 16 trees in the model. These trees are not using proxies but they are different variations.
It seems to be something wrong with the VRayFur. When i completely deleted them from the scene the rendering completed in less than 5 min. Does anyone have any tips for optimizing the VRayFur for grass?
Thanks.
Thanks James. I've actually tried serveral different configs for the bounces. I decided to remove all of my grass (vray fur) and it seems to be going further than it has in the last 2 days. It would figure the main thing the client wants is whats crashing it.
Thanks for the tip Brian, I actually tried this already and generally have about 1.5gb still available when it crashes. Below are my system specs.
Core2 Quad @ 2.40GHz
4GB RAM
MAX 2008
V-Ray Adv 1.5 SP1
I should also mention that I am using Onyx Trees in my model.
I am seriously going crazy here.
I've got a file that I have been trying to render for 2 days. It will reach different points of the rendering process then completely close max. I don't get any error messages or anything.
I have stepped back through the model several times deleting pieces trying to find out what the problem is. Below are my rendering settings.
Polys: 1,961,833
Vray Sun
Image sampler:
Adaptive DMC
Inderect illumination:
Primary bounce: 1.0 Irradiance map
Secondary Bounce: 1.0 Light cache
Irradiance map:
very low
Light Cache:
subdivs: 1000
Sample size: .02
Scale: Screen
Passes: 2
Store direct light: yes
Show calc. phase: yes
Pre-filter: no

Samples: 10
Any help on this would be greatly appreciated.
These are very nice. One thing that sticks out to me is the "light" circle on the aerial shot. Very nice work!
Could you please post your cpu specs and render times?
Thanks for the tips guys. Sorry it took so long for me to get back to you all. Unfortunately I didn't get to try any of these. They pushed our deadline forward so I had to do a lot of photoshop touch-up. Then instantly moved to new projects. I have going to try these options. Once again, thanks for the help.
