  1. I'm coming in a little late, but those VTC's are just awful. gfa2 hit the bullseye with cadclips.com or dgcad.com, same place.
  2. The scale function in Revit is called resize under the edit table. It won't do what the designer wants. Doesn't work that way unfortunately. Your shape will be a challenge to do, but it's possible. You'd have to make your own under create....and probably do a combination of solid forms and void forms to achieve it. Can't really help you too much on that shape, I'm more of a square, rectangle guy.
  3. I can't believe I am the first to respond to this work. It's been a week people. This is excellent work. I am no expert in telling what is right or wrong, but this looks stunning to me. Only compliments and accolades coming from me.
  4. What's your thoughts on the Dreamscape I mentioned? It looked pretty slick to me but I've never tried it so I can't comment on how easy it is to work with.
  5. You're very welcome. I don't get to help very much with this site, I'm on the noob end! Revit I'm pretty good at though.
  6. well, I'm not completely versed in it, but I'll try to help along with what you are trying to accomplish. From what I hear, you're trying to create a flexible array in the family editor. What you need to do is figure out the best way to create the formula for it. There can be different methods for this that work for different arrays. Say you have an array width of 6' and you want something spaced out at 6" intervals. You create an array, selecting the model or detail lines or whatever you have and select "last" option and also the # of array pieces, then click where you want the last part to end. In your family types, you usually have 2 parameters, one for say length of 6', the other says # of (whatever you have). The formula would go into the # of.... part as (length/(distance between your arrays). This will give you an integer, which is what you list the "# of array" part in. This will create a label for you to select as a parameter for your array. You would click your array group, then select the part that has the label (# in your array) then up on the options bar, you now have a selection for your label as a parameter instead of unlabeled. If you have trouble, there's a few threads on AUGI that have some integer arrays in families you can search out. I did see your post there, sorry I didn't respond to it. I don't go there much anymore. I'd suggest some reverse engineering on these families. The one with the dentil moulding is a good one. Hope this has helped answer some things. http://forums.augi.com/showthread.php?t=2395&highlight=family+array http://forums.augi.com/showthread.php?t=59495&highlight=family+array
  7. not much you can do with it. You will see it in just about every view and you can't edit geometry. can't select faces either. can't cross section. You can make sub categories for the materials, but I have found you need to work with it in autocad first, then save as dwg, then import into revit. max models have a tendency to create high poly counts, not always, but when you import these items (that can't be edited) they can hog down your system from the file size alone. max models that are useful are like doorknobs, cars, trees, lighting and bath fixtures, etc. but roofs, walls, floors, while you can import them, they don't serve much function over what's already available in Revit.
  8. Your work and website is what I envy. I do what I think looks awesome, then I get humbled ever so quickly. I am going to go sulk now. In all seriousness, very nice work. Keep it up.
  9. My foot hurts watching the deformation one. Good work. I haven't yet to even start in the animation part.
  10. Yeah, I've been having a little difficult time with my tiled maps. I'm thinking of just using others anyway when I get it completed. The materials come from what has been applied in Revit so there's no bump mapping or anything special, just maps. When I get almost done, I will just import my model into Max instead of linking. Then I will replace almost all of the maps applied. I'm using a coarse limestone rock for my walls, so I guess it doesn't look quite right if you think it's concrete. The stairs and quoins are limestone also, just more of what you would consider limestone. I'm sure I also have another sky around here somewhere. I'll trade it out and try another.
  11. This is my most ambitious project yet. A few months worth of nights and weekends so far. I will be posting progress for awhile I would say. I am going to finish the exterior then start interior renderings where I am lacking. Modeled in Revit and rendered in Max and VRay (I got it to work BTW for those who remember the problem I had earlier) These are just standard materials, no VRay yet. I am still doing the "File Link Manager" process until I get close. Any help or ideas are welcome as are C&C's. My wifey will be telling me where to put the pansies in the planters LOL
  12. Thanks alot guys. I really appreciate those tips and techniques.
  13. I couldn't figure if this was a max question or photoshop question. I'm getting close, but I can't seem to get it just right. These two maps are tiled, but at least to my eye they don't look quite as "awesome" as I would like. There's some repeating pattern I can see. From my recollection, does the mix map work for these, to fix them? Up close they look sensational. The maps are the bricks on the driveway and the green shingles. Pay no attention to my garage doors LOL. I do have photoshop to work with but not sure how to get everything to blend right.
  14. How about the nice ammonia smell? mmmmmmmm
  15. Thanks Thomas. Yes it is unusual, but this home is rather large and expensive. Everything is custom. Money is no object here. Wish I had that option! I know Revit is not the best option here, but I need it modeled and cannot do this in Revit properly.
