  1. It seems that my issue is unfix-able for right now. I'm able to net render the scene on backburner just fine ( some missing maps issues on one machine but that's another problem). I will have to give it up and just remote into the office and render it there. I do know the problem and you guys have answered it which I'm grateful of. I should be able to fix it in about a month;) ***i will eventually have to upgrade to 64bit which I've been wanting to do for a few years but I'm terrified of it. With the migration of everything and compatibility. It is for the better though if you want to max out the cores. Thank you guys for the help
  2. For some mysterious reason I'm unable to get DR to work. This is my setup: I have a main work station running XP 32, with max 2010 32bit, and vray 1.5sp4 I have 2 machines (about to be 4 if i can get DR running) for DR. 1 is a xp 64, the other xp32. I've added the 2 render nodes (servers) to DR setup and they resolve. I can even ping the other computers and they ping just fine. The spawner works and is running fine on the two computers. I get No DR buckets, "no host for DR". I've been using Vray and max for 5 years in an office, and networking has always been iffy. I'm setting this up at home and its been a nightmare. Does anyone have any suggestion. HELP PLEASE:
  3. Crashing is another subject 1 hundred problems deep. 1st, I'd check your file size, which can tell you how much ram you're using to render with. Then check to see if all of your materials are compatible and that your maps are linked. If you have cars in your scene and one of them is incapatible. Crash. Also, if you have displacement in your scenes, sometimes that can make it crash. Basically, i would have to know the nature of your scene in order to help you. Give me a little background.
  4. I gave up trying until today because I a forced to find the answer. The animation layer was disabled. I'm sure it was a hotkey mistake. Just to let anyone who has had this problem know, make sure your animation layer is enabled. You can access it by right clicking over your toolbars and checking animation layers. Then clicking the "Enable anime Layers" button. Too simple. I thought i was going crazy.
  5. I've tried manually setting the keys but no luck. I'm guessing it's a bug, so I might just have to reinstall Max. We are still using Max 9, not 2009 which we have. But that's a whole different issue of problems.
  6. Does anyone have any ideas of why I can't creat keyframes for a animation I'm working on? I have been moving cars and people in my scenes for years to get motion blur and suddenly, it just stopped working. I'm using Max 9, using Auto Key and the slider to creat movement. Any ideas? I'm guessing that maybe i hit a hotkey and turned keyframe creations off. Just a guess.
  7. That would be awesome. I am currently waiting for the file that I've requested from the client today. I most likely won't receive it until Monday with a slim chance that I'll get it today. How would you like me to send it to you. Linking the maps or having materials at all will not be necessary because I have to convert them anyway. I realllllly appreciate your help to an extent you can't comprehend.
  8. Does anyone know of a way to convert a Formz file (.fmz) into a 3ds file without owning the Formz app. Maybe a plugin or translator, anything. Please let me know.
  9. Batch render might be the key. The reason why i would need to do this is I because i have a deadline for two views which render at about 4 hours each and i would like it to render over night without having to wait for the first view to then render the next. I've only done it that way before so i'm not sure how the batch render will operate. I'm at a new office now to clearify some of my ignorance, but not all.
  10. Question: If i have a scene with 2 cameras, how do I render them so that I get both views but only have to press the render button once? I've seen it done where there are two frames, where cam 1 is in on key frame one and cam 2 is on key frame 2. But I can't seem to get my cameras to act this way. Any suggestions?
  11. Sorry it took so long to reply, the guys that did this is Spline 3d out of the Ukraine , not to be confused with Spine 3d here in Miami. I worked with them pretty close but I don't know if they are releasing any secrets. If it's not footage that's being placed in the clip, then it has to be Vue 6 or something like that. Have you seen anything that can do that?
  12. This is a clip from the scene that I was talking about. I had to clip it and lower the res. After looking at it with different eyes, it seems like they took footage of a beach and intergrated it in postproduction like you suggested. What do you think?
  13. I've played around with the Vue trial and that seems like it has the capability to do this but I didn't actually get to recreate it becuase of the trial limits. I don't know if it's worth buying eventhough it's not that expensive. Would you suggest that or Cinema4d? What's good about Vue is it's simple you can learn it in a day or so but i don't know what the finished quality is.
  14. Thanks Brian, those are some of the best tutorials. It worked perfect.
  15. Has anyone created an beach scene a animation with rolling waves. I'm and ex-architect new renderer and worked on a project as an architect that was on the beach, and in their animation that had the beach with water that was excellent. I'm now trying to recreate this but it doesn't seem like a procedural thing that they did. It seems like an RPC or something they bought and just through it in there scene, maybe postproduction. Any suggestions on how this is done, oh I use Max9,Vray1.5, and photoshop CS2.
