  1. Hi, I was wondering if anyone know where to download dried plants that look like they would be used for a phyiscal model. Something similar to these i found on megascans but in actual 3d. so they look something like this when rendered. I dont mind paying
  2. anyone know how to array with a gradient or create a series of offset lines with gradual changes in the span? trying to making louvers that follows a gradient from thick to thin.
  3. found a decent solution in the combination of the random points generator in paneling tools and then using the replace-point-with-block script downloaded from macneel wiki.
  4. thanks for these suggestions. I ended up projecting curves and then arraying the blocks on those curves somewhat randomly... I tried paneling tools but couldn't find something that would create a random patchwork of cubes without distorting their orientation according to the surface.
  5. Hi guys. Anyone know how to pack cubes into a polygon in rhino? or to populate a surface without distorting its shape or orientation? I dont want to use flow on surface for that reason. thanks a bunch
  6. anyone know how to undo a clipping plane in Rhino? i can't seen to find the command.
  7. Figured it out. there is no scene scaling in the maxwell plugin in rhino but maxwell studio itself has it. also tried setting the F stop but the smallest one is 1. which is fairenough since that is real world scenario. although leica has a 0.95. haha.
  8. hi guys. Im trying to do a render in maxwell of a site model. the idea is to scale it down tp 1:1000 so there is depth of field effect to make it look like a physical model. But when i scale it down the mesh goes crazy in the rendered view and no matter how i adjust the mesh setting it doesnt seem to make it smooth. Is there another way to achieve depth of field effect in Maxwell? or is there a way to make a 1:1000 scaled object look like the original?
  9. unfortunately. i think there is too much urban clutter . It's a beach/cliff terrain but in an urban setting in sydney. how would i go about painting my own bump map?
  10. Hi guys. Whats the best way to make a fairly detailed (1:50/1:1000) terrain without topographical lines? I know roughly what the site looks like and i want to extract the topo lines to make a stepped physical terrain model. I've tried 'world machine' but it's not detailed enough, great for making large contours though. I'm also thinking about game based sandbox modellers like crysis sandbox mod. any other easy to use suggestions? I only need to extract the topo lines. no need for texture or rendering. thanks
  11. Yes, Thats true. But what i really want to know is whether this is just an anomaly or a commonly acknowledged pattern. rendering is less of a concern, I know the i7 will be faster. But modeling seems to be an oddball........I would rather have a faster modeling machine. What i would like to know id whether operations like trimming , splitting, and intersection will be faster on a 3.6GHz Phenom IIx4 or a 3.8Ghz i7 920.
  12. I use both an Intel C2d 2.66ghz and an AMD X2 2.6GHZ at work. When trimming a complex geometry, the AMD system is much faster. both have DDR2 800 memory. I use the Trim command and it seems to run on both cores at first then revert to 50% utilization. this is strange, because the C2d is 10-15% faster when rendering butt he AMD is much much faster[50%] at trimming and splitting... any ideas? Im asking because im trying to decide between a phenom II and I7 for home use.
  13. theoretically rhino objects from one duplicated file to another one should paste int he same location. But i think due to one of the interns changing the scale to mm instead of the default has altered this. What is the best way to rectify this. Only way i can think of is to put a point somewhere and relocate everything to 0,0,0 for all the duplicated drawings....
  14. on my old computer i could export circles as circles in DWG. I had thought this was a default feature of rhino but it obviously isnt. I have since lost track of my old computer at work so i cannot find the plugin. does anyone know where to get this plugin if it is a plugin? EDIT: scratch that. if you choose export arc as arcs then it works. but i wear there was a circle option before? who knows.
  15. i have this organic surface made from a patched closed spline. this surface is great for applying mesh extract and arraying profiles to make structural beams........BUT, patched surfaces don't have history. How would i make an organic surface that preserves the history. i noticed a lot of the surface tools dont have history with the exception of networksurves, but network curves are not very easy to work with.
