I suggested that to them too actually. Back when you could get a little bit of support. This seems like a good product which could be great with further improvements, it's a shame we can't input or see any of that development anymore

    Anima 2.0

Here's a trial I've rendered.. (how do you embed videos?) I'm on the Trial mode so the actors are limited to 5, and you can only render 120 frames so it's quite short. The flickering at the beginning is my fault, it's the HDRi sun animating to suit different viewpoints. The still model in the foreground is the free AXYZ model, I just wanted to see how that looked in a render What do you think to it? Overall, I think it's fairly easy to use to a basic level, but try to push it and I soon struggle. You need to spend a lot of time setting it up, going back and forth from Anima software to 3ds. The support is non-existent now, though it was ok when I started using it. And I dont think it looks great either

Has anyone got any animation examples they've created, which have animated 3D people in there? I'm struggling to find any info on this tbh. Trying to use Anima (trial) at the moment and finding it difficult. Adding the people inside buildings seems difficult so far Added a bunch of Populate people to a dining area. Thought all was going quite well but on closing and opening the scene I find the file is corrupt :(

I'd like to start using 3D people in scenes, mainly still's but some animations. And I want to do this to save time on adding 2D people in post, get real shadows at the same time and get a better result than using RPC's. So with that, I'm open to any solutions that are out there. Feel free to reccomend or suggest any others I need to look at. The AXYZ models look good for the stills, then Anima popped up as a solution which could do both still's and animation. Which scanned people do you use Fran, I wouldn't mind having a look at them.

Is anyone using this on a regular basis? Or is there a better alternative for adding 3D people into scenes? I'd be interested to hear your preferred method of adding people into scenes, and getting their scale and shadows correct quickly.
  6. Shame about the long reply John, damn technology ay! I will be trying that. It's not a wall dividing the room btw, just a kitchen worktop/units.
  7. They are indeed stunning. But as said, churn out the very generic people and poses quickly and your onto a winner. Some means of randomising clothing may help so they don't look like an obvious copy in a populated scene. Keep up the good work
  8. Thanks John - very valid points there. I agree about it being over populated. It's a very small apartment really which were trying to make look good. The camera sits just above the kitchen worktop, so it's really tight in there. It's an architects plan, and choice of furniture. Although this is my take on it as I wasn't convinced with the multicoloured scheme they planned. I may strip it back and make it look more spacious

  10. Brilliant. Spotted a fence in there which was made up of thousands of splines, deleted them and all is well. The File size more than halved too! Thanks for pointing that out
  11. So I've just imported a SketchUp model into 3DS 2013, its not a huge model at 7mb/850k polys - but its really slow to work with Every mouse click seems to take about 8 seconds to compute. Select an object, wait 8 seconds for a reaction. Turn the layer off, wait.. turn another layer on, wait.. Click, wait.. Click wait.. I've not had the issue before, even with a Huge scene modeled in CAD yesterday which was over 18million polys. So I cant think why the SketchUp file would be such a problem. Any idea on how I can resume a normal work speed?
  12. This is what I'm looking for anyway, a video guide on how to actually use this would be great though http://docs.autodesk.com/3DSMAX/15/ENU/3ds-Max-Help/index.html
  13. Anyone know of any advanced Scene Explorer or Curve editor tutorials? I know the basics of smoothing out a curve to smooth an object or camera movement, that bit I'm ok with. But with at the BlueGFX expo a couple of weeks ago I got to see a quick demo of Max, and more specifically the Scene Explorer and Curve editor were shown. He used them to Select objects by material type, name and many other sets etc. But the bit I'm looking for is how he then made an instance of those objects selected very quickly - any ideas how that is done? Also he could copy and replace items with new geometry in a second too. Like replacing every lamp post in a city scene with a new piece of geometry, in just a second This is the trouble with demo's like this, the pro's can rattle through the tips soo so fast that we can't follow them anyway
  14. Hmm, even a small section of the sketchUp file zipped up is 3mb - too bit to attach
