  1. Hi Guys, I often do photo-montages, and modify the photos significantly in Photoshop RAW. As such, I always have to play around with the 3D rendered image too much. Is there a way I can treat an EXR the same way I treat a Canon RAW image? I.e. have it open in the same software (Photoshop Camera Raw)? Chris
  2. I'm facing a tight deadline and need some character rigging. In particular, I need some people walking pushing a shopping cart. My animation skills are limited and I don't know how to do it. If anybody can help me out I'd really appreciate it. Chris
  3. Hi Guys, Everytime I open a 2011 max file in 2014, it (without fail) crashes within 5 minutes. Always when I'm doing something, i.e. moving an object, applying a material etc. I've installed SP3 for 2014 and I'm still having the issue. Using Vray too. Has anyone encountered anything similar / know how to resolve it? Cheers. Chris
  4. Hi Guys, Hopefully someone can help me. Being a novice with regard to animation, I had loaded BIP files to my character models and saved (via Motion tab). After finding that it's easier to merge the characters into my animation scene and apply the bip file via motion mixer, I did that. Unfortunately, with the bip files already saved to the character. The scene is now using 14GB of ram with the character files xref'd. I think the problem is that I've essentially doubled the bip files or something? For comparison, when I only used motion mixer (with the raw character files), with the same amount of people, the scene is using about 3GB of ram. Anybody know how to rectify my mistake? Apologies if I haven't made sense - it's late and I'm trying to figure out how to fix it. Any help would certainly be appreciated. Chris
  5. It was years ago - it only had the lights and the model. I can't remember when and under what situation is was available for download, I just remember downloading it. Damn! If noone else remembers, I might have to model from scratch.
  6. Hi Guys, I remember a scene very similar (minus the models and textures I think) to the attachment for download a while ago. I can't seem to find it, and was hoping someone had it / knew where to download it. I'm doing a similar scene and would prefer to grab relevent models from that scene rather than do it all from scratch Thanks!
  7. Sorry mate - wasn't my intention at all. I suggest those things because I personally had completely disregarded the basics. I was obsessed with getting materials right, the model perfect with every rivet yet I still wasn't happy. I had been doing it professionally for longer than you and it wasn't until I read a couple of great articles that I went back to the basics and found that I was getting happier and happier with my images. Hope that clears things up a bit.
  8. Dont worry too much mate. I very much doubt they picked up a copy of Vray, 3dsMax and Photoshop and created the images you see now straight away. Consider it a learning curve and what's always great is to compare your current images to ones you did a year ago... In terms of composition, the third shot is getting there. What I would do if I were you is to study architectural photography, composition, colour correcting etc. Forget about 3D tutorials until you completely understand what has to 'go into' an image. Think of it this way - anyone could have Alex Roman's textures, models and plants to produce an image, but very few would be able to turn them into the images we've seen from him.
  9. A couple of reasons people probably didn't reply... I suggest you upload the following (if you haven't figured it out yet): 1. Post Material 2. Explain whether you are using Mat Displace or VrayDisplacement map. 3. If it's the latter, post settings for that.
  10. Try moving the scene closer to coordinate 0 for x / y..
  11. This is a problem that doesn't seemed to have gone away for ages. Still can't find a decent explanation... Copy and paste this into the MaxScript listener window: while (numNoteTRacks TrackViewNodes.Max_MotionClip_Manager > 0) do deleteNoteTrack TrackViewNodes.Max_MotionClip_Manager (getNoteTrack TrackViewNodes.Max_MotionClip_Manager 1)
  12. You can also copy and paste the following into the MaxScript listener window: while (numNoteTRacks TrackViewNodes.Max_MotionClip_Manager > 0) do deleteNoteTrack TrackViewNodes.Max_MotionClip_Manager (getNoteTrack TrackViewNodes.Max_MotionClip_Manager 1)
  13. Perhaps if you were add some images we could better understand...
  14. If I understand what you're asking correctly, you may also 'Group' the model + camera but MAINLY the camera and the target before you rotate.
  15. Glad it worked When I first discovered it I wanted to hug the person too. You can visit here for more info: http://forums.cgarchitect.com/61106-long-saving-time-3ds-max.html Basically something is creating a lot of NoteTracks in your scene, that script removes them Chris
