  1. Revised renderings based on my group crits. Muted colors, added contrast, highlighted project focus.
  2. Thanks for the comments. I've started to notice the past year or two that I tend towards vivid color palettes for my work.
  3. Some quick down and dirty Piranesi watercolor renderings for a group project in my Design Methodologies class [collaborative between various majors; architecture, graphic design, typography, etc.] The intention was to have the exploded signage and artwork obscured by vertical fins give various reads based on the changing viewer's perspective.
  4. Hey WDA, I see you're in TX now. You're missing all the snow we are getting today, or maybe you don't miss it My Chicago studio Prof is a proud FIB, I'm looking FWD to being an honorary FIB for the semester. Frosty, Hi-8 seems perfect for that subject and I enjoyed the score with the footage. It would be interesting to see that footage run through AE and color grade it to play up the vintage and lo-fi feel. Cassandra, How great to run into a previous Frankel student here! I'm looking forward to learning from him, the experience has all of the ingredients to be a milestone in my undergrad career.
  5. Hi all, haven't been here in long time. In my last year of undergrad SARUP @ UW-Milwaukee. Will be finishing last semester in Chicago in Merchandise Mart studio. Have alot of work generated from school that I should probably post here. This short film is from my Architecture and Film class. The intent of the class is to make us look at how we tell a story in architecture and to leave no detail untouched. Make each frame count, and consider what story am I telling with each frame. I found the creative process in architecture and film complimentary, the skillsets from one enhance the other. [ATTACH]30369[/ATTACH] http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kRS7M6bMLao Enjoy.
  6. Hey Luke, I'm @ SARUP, is this 281 w/Talbott? MS and I don't get along well. The program is not intuitive to the way I operate. I used a different program [ArchiCAD] for most of the projects. If you use another program you should be ok for the duration, but be warned; towards the end of the semester there are assignments that you can only achieve the look Talbott and his TA's are looking for w/MS. It's a pretty cool look [renders lines of objects kinda like Sketchup, but you manually control the lineweight of each line individually.] I skipped all lectures after the first day, and skipped most discussions until the end and I got an 'A'. You can resubmit assignments to get full credit. This year SARUP bought MS XM v8.0 which looks vastly improved over v7.5, so maybe give it a try and see what you think. Regardless of what you pick, make sure to have quality renderrings because you'll need them to put into your portfolio for submission to Level II, and competition is brutal to get in. I lost a few mates from last year cause they got cut BTW, last year we could BUY our way out of the final exam by paying $50 to join some online group. Cheers, Paul SARUP Studio room #394
  7. He's come a long way baby: http://www.hollywoodreporter.com/hr/content_display/news/e3i16c1ed3bf76536b4c669651706799643
  8. I would agree with Vince. The knowledge gained in a studio setting vs. online would be incomparable. I also agree that a pay hike is not likely unless, A) Your employer is encouraging you to do this and agrees to pay you more upon gaining your Masters, B) You look for employment elsewhere. FWIW, I am currently a full-time architecture student going for my BSAS, and then immediately for my M. Arch. I was on this forum for a few years before going to school, and while the skills that I learned here were of value and worth, putting myself into the pressure tank of a studio setting helped me grow exponentially from where I was prior to school. I reacted well to that environment, perhaps yourself or others may respond better to an online setting. For me, the intense but typically friendly competition from my peers pushed me to ramp things up. Plus, these friends will be valuable contacts in my network as I grow in the field of architecture. I work full time to support myself while I am a full-time student and there are times that my school/work/social life is challenging to balance, but it's all well worth it! You're young [alot younger than me ], so go for it! Best wishes! Paul
  9. Good for you for wanting to expand and grow! I'd be curious why you want the Masters Degree. Better pay? Move to another employer or field? Purely for personal satisfaction because you always intended to get it? Once we know it may be easier to give input. Cheers
  10. When in Rome A.D. 320, do as the Romans do: http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap_travel/20070611/ap_tr_ge/travel_brief_virtual_rome_1;_ylt=AmixvoUzFqPNGwVX_Bk38nHlWMcF Wonder if this will ever be exported to Google Earth?
  11. Hey Jacob, thx man! I'm currently attending UW-Milwaukee:SARUP for my BSAS http://www.uwm.edu/SARUP/
  12. Hey Daniel, I've been using ArchiCAD--->M~R and have been satisfied with it. Keep us posted w/your progress.

  14. Thx everyone for the kind words. Here are some additional higher res pics of the Alumni house and Spielhaus as requested. SPIELHAUS: http://i19.photobucket.com/albums/b157/maxbish/portfolio/SPPOOL.jpg http://i19.photobucket.com/albums/b157/maxbish/portfolio/SPLIFEROOM.jpg http://i19.photobucket.com/albums/b157/maxbish/portfolio/SPKitchen.jpg http://i19.photobucket.com/albums/b157/maxbish/portfolio/SPDRIVE.jpg I had some issues with Alpha channels and noise w/M~R, but figured the image was being used on a portion of a 8.5x11, so I could afford to look over some of those issues. Cheers
  15. Thx Vince. I used ArchiCAD to model and M~R to render, with some PS post work. The sketchy render is done with ArchiCAD's internal sketch render engine. Dusan, thx, I'll post higher res pics when I get a chance.
