  1. Is it possible to export alpha channels from Maxwell/Rhino to use as object selections in Photoshop, and if so how? I know you can do this in Max with the default scanline renderer and the matte/shadow material and a standard material with a bright self illuminating colour, but don't know how to achieve the save result in Rhino with Maxwell. Thanks
  2. Is there a way of replacing frames rendered for an animation, without individually renaming them? For instance if you have a 1000 frame sequence and you want to update only frames 600-700, without changing the names of those frames and replacing them manually? I'm hoping there is a simple and obvious solution but so far I can't think of it. Thanks
  3. Does that not given massive animation file sizes, or is that dictated by how the frames are compressed at the end of post production?
  4. What are the best render settings for exporting animation frames from 3DMax to Premier Pro or After Effects - individual frames yes, but what frame rate is best, and what file type, jpeg or TIFF, or?... Thanks
  5. I managed to find a way: - Select all objects and convert to editable poly - Create a selection set - Attach by selection set
  6. I would do that but I have 1000+ objects to attach together unfortunately, which would be time consuming.
  7. Interesting answer thanks. I think I'll download trials of both and see what works best for me.
  8. Great suggestion thanks. Do you have a particular script in mind?
  9. Is there a quick and easy way to combine 100s of independent planes or objects together for editing in sub-object mode in Max, i.e. not labour intensive such as using Compound Objects? Thanks
  10. I just want to do basic movies, i.e. stitch some walkthroughs together with a bit of text and sound and a few basic effects over the top. The reason I used the example of 1000 frames rendered in 2 days with Max and Vray was to get a relative comparison, as in would it take 30 seconds or half a day to combine and export into a movie file with some editing in After Effects? - rendering time that is, not including the editing. Thanks
  11. I am thinking of giving after effects a try, using animation image files from Max/Vray. What sort of final movie rendering times should I be expecting from After Effects in relation to Max and Vray. Say from a 1000 frame animation that took 2 days to render with one node in Max and Vray? Thanks
  12. Any idea where I can get nice large scale skies to use as backgrounds? Thanks
  13. Is it possible to calibrate or adjust the brightness, colours and contrast of an entire psd file with lots of layers to match that of a printer or other computer screens, without messing around with each individual layer, or alternatively to flatten the psd and do this with the jpeg/other image file version? I am working with a large file and it comes out a lot darker and more vivid when printed or viewed on colleagues screens. Thanks in advance.
  14. How do you achieve greater edge definition and greater contrast between adjacent faces in Vray, through lighting and shading, as opposed to effects like Vray Toon, EdgesTex or Vray Dirt? Thanks
