  4. Hi On,

How are you? I'm not sure if you can remember me but we had some info exchange in the past. I wonder if you have any idea about training materials for 3ds max in Hebrew. My brother is interested in getting into 3d and your name came into mind. Any books you've heard of or online classes would be a great start. I told him that English is the ticket to this trade but I'm not familiar with the level of involvement in Israel.

Thanks for your time and help. Wish you all the best,

  5. hello everyone, havnt been here in a while.. anyways ive downloaded the archi 12 trial version to check out whats new from graphisoft. so far it looks good, the only problem is that ever so often the software freezes over, for several minutes at a time. i got a very descent pc with a good graphic card (geforce 6800 ultra) so i dont think its my pc doing poorly. so is it a compatability problem? or is it just because its a trial version? hope anyone knows about this tnx in advance..
  6. wouldnt hurt if u were more polite about it..
  7. funny how max can drive people mad.. never seen this one before max has a way of preserving all kinds of settings uve used before. segments of a sphere, interpolation of shapes and lines, and fillets of rectangles as well. keep that in mind next time u "dare" challenging max's default settings of anything.. cheers mate
  8. no one said there isnt a way to do it, just that its not worth the effort.. if u dont trust me then i guess ull see for yourself. but if i might add- one of the points of turning to a forum like this is learning from other peoples experience and getting solutions to problems u havnt thought of. a kind of "think tank" if u will. while being stubborn can be quite fun (especially when ur right ), most times its just unproductive... sorry for the whipping good luck
  9. if ur going with poly then theres no need for any kind of booleans, just select the polygons u want gone and delete them. id do an inverse extrude first to give the opening some detail. but if u want the opening to be straight thn ggo with pro boolean. it doesnt matter if its a poly or mesh to that matter.
  10. never heard of such a thing, just model it. a short cut isnt allways the shortest way...
  11. no need for booleans here. either use pro-boolean (try installing it anyways it might work with max7 as well) or just do the whole thing using edit mesh or edit poly (negative extrude). ull get better results than either one of em.
  12. solved it! all u have to do is componsate w the same but negative value in the shift tab wish i had searched the forum sooner.. tnx anyways (chad warner i think?)
  13. hi all a little prob i got- im trying for the 1st time the 'vray disp' mod for bricks on the walls. i actually like the outcome which is more convincing than the bumo option besides the only issue of the "splits" i get on the corners. ive tried the 2d & 3d options but to no success. ive also tried the regular displacement method but again w no success, so any tips on the matter? im posting here cuz i suppose u can solve this in other ways other than vrays way. tnx in advance!

    Max Disaster

if its not alot mats then u can use the 'pick material from object' tab, left to your mat name. about the debugging issue- it happened to me quite a few times as well but unfortunatly i dont know of another way other than what uve done. in autocad for example theres a 'recovery' utility which is very handy and saves 90% of damaged files ive come across. push it on the max wish list, maybe someone will take notice..
  15. again a vray q.. and not clear what is the problem.. do u mean artifacts?
