  1. Studio/Institution: md-vis Genre: Industrial Interior Software: viz 2006 - vray 1.5 Description: Hello, i am struggeling to get a satisfying result with my roof greening. Checked vraymaterials.de and cgtextures already but couldn`t find a fitting map. I try to get something like in the lower image, a mixture of grass and gravel, or this colored external greenings on flat roofs which contain gravel and red, yellow and green grasses. thanks
  2. i use the vray displacement modifier, not a material with displacement! when i detach a polygon and add the vray displ. mod. the result stays the same. i get the dispersion on both sides of the polygon, what i want to avoid!
  3. Hi, generally i use a vray displacement modifier on an extruded spline to create grass. Now i face the problem that i need grass on a flat roof for bicycles and see the displacement of the Grass object from below. Can someone tell me how to make the displacement only in one direction?
  4. I use the super materialeditor switcher plugin to get more than 24 Material slots. I face the Problem, that sometimes when i switch between the slot-pages all defined slots from one 24 slot bundle are disappeared and i can only see the standard material in all slots.
  5. i have glossy reflections in the scene, no dof! yes, it is an animation.
  6. thanks for the substantive reply jon. i never tried the adaptive sampler as in the documentation is written, that you should not use it when there ist some kind of blurry effect in the scene, which always is in my scenes. but i will try your suggestions and post my progress.
  7. thanks for your support and sorry for answering late. i tried your suggestions and saw that the problem is gone with the fixed aa-sampler. so it must be an aa issue. i rose the min subdiv. in the adaptive dmc sampler from 1 to 2 and the max. subdiv. from 4 to 8 and the problem was gone. i made a lot of render tests also in other scenes and realised that the artefacts only exist in pixels which are between areas of high contrast, especial if one of these areas appears very bright. now i have to life with higher render times! one more question: i need the better aa-settings only in the described areas. is there another way to handle this, so that i don`t have to rise the the aa settings for the whole image, which was fine?

  9. thanks for your suggestions peter. the second solution is too complex for my skills. i will keep editing the splines in each of the sweep objects.

  11. tahnks for your reply toni, i´ts not the problem, that i don`t want to attach the sweep mod. toghether, but i can`t as the objects i want to generte don´t have the same section. i also would not say, that the cause of the distorded texture in image 1 is uncorrect texturing, but the fact, that i edited the 2 objects with an edit mesh modifier. i know, that i could handle the problem by editing each spline(as i wrote in my first post), but i was interrested if someone knows a workaround how i could edit a bundle of objects which were created with the sweep modifier, at once.
  12. thanks for your reply, unfortunately the sweep modifier is not the same as i need different profiles for the sweep mod. as i have a kerbstone and gingerbread stones to create. i added 2 images of the situation before and adfter edit mesh.
  13. i have the problem that i can´t get rid of this artefacts in the edges of the facade. i face the same problem when i have bright ceilinglamps in an interior rendering. i have no idea what causes this! would be vrey thankfull for suggestions.

[ATTACH=CONFIG]44458[/ATTACH][ATTACH=CONFIG]44459[/ATTACH]i use splines from autocad and sweep modifier in 3dsmax to create winded kerbstones and pavements. when i have to edit the kerbstones and pavements i should go back to edit spline in the modifier stack of each object and edit the spline there. this works but isn`t handy. it would be much nicer if i could edit both objects at once. but if i make a group of the 2 objects and make an edit mesh modifier, i can edit both, but the sweep modifier doesn`t work correctly, as the maps on the objeccts are distorted.
  15. sometimes i can`t use "display as box" in object properties as it is greyed out. it seems to happen when the objects are organised in groups and "undergroups, etc". but i don`t know exactly what i can do to fix this.
